Looking into water cooling :D

The mission creep here is horrendous - we've gone from a £70 basic starter kit to a proposed full-on system where each component costs almost as much as the original proposed system. And a £250 system will not cool 3.5x better than the £70 system.

The default suggestion always seems to be PA120.3/18W Laing/D-Tek Fuzion/0.5" barbs and Masterkleer 7/16" but actually people are simply suggesting what they bought, and it becomes a self-fulfilling prophecy that everyone has a Maybach/Ross-Royce cooling system on decidely VW/Audi components.

I'll go so far as to say that with the CPU and Chipset blocks in, the £200+ Thermochill/Laing/D-tek system will not cool to 3C better over ambient than the £70 XSPC system, and you're adding 3 fans to the system, so it's highly unlikely to be much quieter.

And the huge downside with the Thermochill is that it has non-standard fan spacings so it won't go into a case that has two 120mm fans on the 'standard' 15mm centre spacings. So if you want a true performance radiator that you don't need to cut the case for, get a TFC unit (no cost-cutting though).

As an alternative - how about a pair of PA160.1's in two loops if you want to properly cool the CPU and then the GPU and chipset on the second loop? Two PA160.1's>PA120.3. And they bolt into 120mm fan slots and run the existing 120mm fans so you don't add any noise.

Yes and no. The components quoted above are top spec and will basically handle whatever you throw at them. The reason why people keep using the PA series rads (among other parts) is because they are well proven and are of a high quality.

Theres nothing wrong with wanting the best.

I think this is partly due to your first comment.

It'll be fine, just don't expect miracles from it as although it's all basically good stuff, the single 120mm radiator will ultimately not dump as much heat as a bigger one.

I think what i do is get the starter kit cose it my first water cooling setup and i don't have lots and lots of cash lol

But i won't get it for a few more weeks so u never know lol

Thing is if i get the starter kit i can't really add the gpu and northbridge cause the rad and pump won't take it from what u guys are saying.

So if i get the starter kit then maybe upgrade the rad and pump later then again that wasting money of its a matter of weeks :(

Not sure what to do lol

If you're not buying it immediately then definitely get posting and get your 250 posts for entry to member's market. There is always really good second-hand stuff on there (I'd often rather buy kit second hand on here than new as I know it's going to work:D).

I agree, there is nothing wrong with wanting the best, and all I was ever trying to do was bring a new water-user online. Those 'custom' components are expensive overkill for most users, and I think the massive cost of what we would describe as a 'good custom system' is off-putting for lots of users.

And having used both the TFC 240mm and 360mm rads I definitely think that the TFC radiators are as good as the Thermochills, with the added benefit that they fit most cases without cutting and they take standard G1/4 barbs. Feser have never been shy about being expensive and I think they've got a product that will make Thermochill sit up and take note (hopefully). As Thermochill have always been the market leaders, I'm hoping they have a Feser-killing radiator tucked away up there in Yorkshire;)

Yeah thats sounds like the best plan atm :D.

How do u guys handle payment on goods sold ?

Thanks :D.

Agreed :) My second loop consisting of:

PA120.2 - £30
DDC 10w with Alphacool top - 35
Dtec GFX block - £20
XSPC Bayres - £10

So loving the second hand parts !!!

Yep definitely - i sort of had to go thermochill cause the cuts in my case were already speced up :)
