Hi,

Does anyone have a Creative X-Fi Platinum sound card, how do you rate it? I'm thinking of getting one.

i've got a platinum of the old school when X-FI was first realeased still think it's the best sound card for the cos £100 on a special from the purple devils i'm using it with Vista 32 and don't have any problems with it

get an asus xonar there far superior even more so in vista

Its actually the Creative Soundblaster X-Fi Platinum Fatal1ty Champion so will be the same *I think*

How much are you paying for it? The cards are quite good but the Xonar is better. However if you feel adventurous with a soldering iron you can replace a few caps and opamps and make it sounds loads better than the Xonar and even some external DAC/amp setups.

I'm getting it for £38 from a friend. Is that good? I'm looking for something to improve my sound quality over my onboard - for gaming and music!

yeah that's a good price and you should be pleased with the sound, especially in games.
