Panting like a fiend
Hi

I'm not sure quite where to post this, so i'll do it here :p

I bought a Tomtom V3 about 3 weeks ago, and it's current maps are missing some fairly major round changes in an area I use on a regular basis (a bypass that opened about 8 months ago for example).

I had assumed it would be in the map as it's been around for long enough now, but it isn't.

I've checked the map with the tomtom home software and it says it's the most up to date one with the map being
v710.1571 United Kingdom and republic of Ireland

However there appears to be a newer version
v720
with the very slightly different name Great Britain and Republic of Ireland.

Is it worth querying it with Tomtom as it's bit disapointing that the unit doesn't seem to see things that have been part of the road network in some cases for over a year (mini roundabouts and the like), not to mention missing a fairly major road.

Yea i found this with my TomTom One as well. My bro cut his hand and it took us to a hospital that had been knocked down over a year ago. I couldn't find the new one at all so ended up having to ring my mum at AM so she could go online and get me the postcode :D.

The new map is £30 which i begrudge paying as i just spent £120 on the satnav so it should come with the latest map imo.

I thought tomtom came with a 30 day latest map guarantee. So if you buy a tomtom and a new map comes out with in 30 days you can download the new map for free. I dont know if that is correct, but im sure I read it somewhere.

Worth checking out anyway,

:( Wish I'd known about this when i got it, its been longer than 30 days now. Oh well hopefully this can help Werewolf.

I find it very rare that my TomTom actually "sees" mini roundabouts, and if you think about it, it doesn't really need to. You're either turning left, right, or carrying on straight on :)

Missing roads however is very annoying, agreed.

And Mark, how can you not know where your local hospital is? :p

Any idea how much the European maps are? I need to update mine to go to France with - sod's law my friend's Euro loaded one has busted and is in the Netherlands for repair :(

You had to use tom tom sat nav to show you how to get to your local A+E hospital?

Oh jeez

I wasn't aware of this, i looked at the new maps and the latest one has £29.99 next to it.

I bought a Tom Tom Go 730 a couple of months ago. When it came it came without the latest map version

I queried it with TomTom, but got fobbed off with some kind of technicality that the tom tom latest map guarantee has in its small print a clause that says it only applies if you get shipped a tomtom with v6 maps. Because you've got a V7 map it doesnt apply.

still havent got round to removing the roundabouts from the a1 route that the tom tom tries to make you go over, then it gets lost wondering where you are when you drive under the damned things, other than that its been ok. takes some fairly scenic routes into harrogate mind

Um, reading above, unless I'm being stupid, it seems that some people are suggesting it's possible to edit the maps? how?

For western Europe I think they are usually about £80, but at the moment they are £60 iirc

Its not really local to me, my local hospitals A & E department was closed down so its now just an out-patient hospital. I can find that easily.

Ive never been to Blackburn hospital before, in fact hardly ever been to Blackburn. Ive not been driving long and only done about 2000 miles since Ive been driving. Didn't know where it was and it was 1am so took the satnav.

Jeez
