Garages and Lock-ups go for more than that in those areas, let alone flats. Can't you live further out and Tube in?
i found some places for less than that price in edgeware road and notting hill. i am not fussed about living alone, shared accomodation is fine by me.
all i need actually is easy access to the center (for example if its warren street station, i can walk to my job at grosvenor square) a large bed a large desk and a place to put my clothes in

Spareroom is a great site. I registered on friday and moved in on sunday.
If you pay for the early bird access, it allows you to see the newest places before any of the freeloaders. Was £18 for 30days access. Well worth the money.

spareroom is free but if you pay a little you get first crack and therefore best properties which go fastest - they also occasionally do speed flatmating nights like speed dating but for flatshares
