*** The Official Football Manager 2009 Thread ***

So am I. :) I buy FM every year no matter what they do. I can see why others don't do this and buy it every two years so they feel they are getting better value for money.

Same here really, I just keep buying it every year... there's always one or two new features that I get excited about and it's nice to have official updated rosters too :)

That and I will play it from the day they release it until the day they release the new one as well. Lord knows how many hours I've racked up on FM (and CM before that) over the year! :o

I'll start working out how to make a secure PHP login page that lists the downloads on my site or downloads on some your mirrors. Can I add you to MSN to sort stuff out sometime? :)

Sure thing.... I'll actually have to download Messenger on my home PC's again :o

I don't use it that often, or at all if I'm honest.

Feel free to email my trust address though if you want an quicker reply :)

I know. FM is so addictive. Easy to say I'll go to bed in half an hour and then four hours later...! :o

Sure thing. Whatever is best for you. :)

What has happened to FM Live?

I know they are seperate games and its not a replacement for 2009 but it seems to have gone a bit quiet.

not trolling or anything but if this was EA doing this everybody would be going *******

same game each year £24.99

fm2005
fm2006
fm2007
fm2008

correct me if im wrong but thats the previous ones yeah? £24 ish for each and i cant honestly think of an innovative new thing in those game updates that made it so different from the old CM and worth spending another £25 for the full game.

i mean are we still gonna be here waiting for FM2012 and the media updates, better referees and goalkeepers..

?

Hey Surfer can you fully star out the sweary please. :)

And there've been quite a few changes from FM05 all the way through. Some games haven't changed that much but on the whole they have.

Well there have been changes but not radical enuff for me. last one i committed myself too was fm2007. Its a great game not denying it but would prefer to see them reduce the price. I remember when they used to do seasonal updates for CM and im sure they were not full price?

but anyway not to hijack the thread ....this is about fm2009

This is a great idea, I'd be happy to donate bandwidth and my PHP skills if required.

I seem to buy it every year. The value for money is fantastic. This year I paid £17 for it around launch and i've been playing one game for 5 days. I know this is nothing in comparison to other people but the value for money is there every year. Compared to some other games like FPS.

Agree 100%

Just like the pro evo series, this series has became so stale over the past few years.

The training module is just a joke, it should be the most engaging and enthralling aspect of the game along with the match engine, but its just so god damn linear it's a joke. The fact it hasn't improved for four years says it all.

The match engine has improved over the years, but not to any real great degree.

Each year they put in a few additions here and there, which ultimately don't improve the two most important areas of the game.

I really hope this version is the start of the revolution.

Perhaps I expect to much though.

** Football Manager 2009 **

Features announced today!

SI Games Official Youtube Channel

Part 1 - FM 2009 Announcement

Part 2 - FM 2009 Announcement

Part 1 shows a little clip of a 3D match engine. Apart from that it talks about how FM started, how well it's done, how many copies they've sold, how much people enjoy it, etc.

Some info on Part 2:

- Assistant manager feedback given during match. How your tactics are working, How the opposition are exploiting your tactics, how you could exploit theirs.

- Improved media feature. Transfer rumours added. Press conferences added, before & after matches. Not just answering a series of questions, you build up relationships with the journalists over time. The answers you give can come back to haunt you - the journalists remember what you've said.

- Player preferred moves. Can tell players to train a move through the player interaction screen.

- You can now play as a female manager.

- Board confidence has been improved

- Financial modelling has been improved.

- Widescreen support.

- Transfer system completely reworked. More accurate transfers.

- 3D match engine (option to choose between 2D or 3D). SEGA Japans Virtual Striker team have worked on this. They've been able to use the motion capture work that they've done in the past. In the youtube video, it is around 50% done according to Miles. Time bar added to the match screen like in FM Live. Can use widgets to see important match information as well.

- Regens have also been worked on extensively.

- More information throughout the coming months through blogs and podcasts.

- Demo due to be out a few weeks before the official release date - Nov 14th.
