I don't follow football and have never attended a match in my life but my two boys (7 and 8) support Liverpool and my girlfriend supports Tottenham. I've promised to take them to White Hart Lane to watch a Liverpool v Tottenham match so any advice is appreciated.

Questions are:
  • What's the best stand to go for which is nearer the pitch and near toilets if poss?
  • Where's the best place to buy tickets?
  • Anywhere sensible to park?
  • Anything useful to know...
Thanks for any wisdom football watcher people.

I very much doubt that you'll be able to buy tickets for a Spurs vs Liverpool match tbh.

It's a pretty huge game and WHL is usually pretty packed being so small. Club members get priority over tickets and the remainder go on public sale which are usually snapped up very quickly.

I'm a Spurs fan and it's a nightmare getting tickets if you're not a member. Don't let that put you off trying though. You just need to get in early enough.

It'll be a top grade match, and all the tickets will almost certainly be snapped up by members.

Tickets are sold to members first and then to the general public if there's any left. For big games, it's very very unlikely that any tickets will be available to the general public. You could become a member (about £35 a year) but I think that only gives you the right to buy one ticket early.

# What's the best stand to go for which is nearer the pitch and near toilets if poss?
There's toilets all around the stadium and there's no one stand that's nearer the pitch. West is nicest, following by east and then north/south. Ticket prices reflect this.

# Where's the best place to buy tickets?
www.spurs.co.uk

# Anywhere sensible to park?
Public transport is best. There's a parking exclusion zone around the stadium on match days and it's not the safest area to park anyway...

Thanks for all the replies everyone. It looks like it's probably better to watch both teams separately at home to foreign teams as these are usually up for general sale and you can book multiple seats at a time.

I can do London but Liverpool is as far away as Germany. :(

I would suggest that you get tickets for Spurs against one of the newly promoted teams, like West Brom. They're usually easy to get on general sale and as last season proved, they can be a goal fest.

I'll put that too them. Sounds like a good idea to see a game where there's a strong chance of scoring and victory.

I'm from Ashford in Kent and attend Liverpool throughout the year. That little fact has always made me laugh, i.e. we're closer to Germany than a city in the middle of England.
Weird I know. Bloody kids will make it a nightmare as it's an overnight stay, for sure.

The one thing you are almost always going to get at a Spurs game is goals, unfortunately you dont know which end its going to be at.

As mentioned many times before, you really need to be a member to get tickets at WHL. I have 2 memberships so that I can always get 2 tickets for the matches I wish to attend, as a member is only allowed 1 ticket and the chance to get a guest ticket the day before general sale, but the club cannot guarantee the guest ticket will be next to yours.

He surely wouldn't struggle to get a ticket. I could get a ticket for any Man Utd match at Old Trafford.

Getting tickets in London is very hard. Arsenal and Spurs especially.

The easiest matches to get tickets for are early domestic cup games and UEFA cup games. If you've got young kids, they might not have the stamina for an evening game though.

IT probably is slightly mocking but I do wonder what percentage of tickets United have that are season tickets compared to Spurs or Arsenal, both london clubs obviously have a lot of supporters out of london but the majority that go to games are Londoners and both have high portion of their seats as season tickets as people know they'll be around to see the games and get there. The stigma that a lot of Man U fans are from out of town, tbh I'm not one to give a crap where you're from or why you support the team you do. But if they have lower portion of season tickets so more game by game tickets and lots of people go to a few games a year due to not traveling for every game it would well explain why its a darn site easier to get tickets at Man U. Though saying that, they've got 70k seats, compared to our 60k and Spurs 12 seats.

But the big games, top 6 maybe vs anyone else in the top 6 and you're just not going to get a ticket not being a member. At Arsenal all the biggest games have such huge demand you can only get tickets if you have a lot of "points" which you gain by going to multiple away games in a year. SO the guys who literally spend more money, and put more effort into supporting the team get first crack at the biggest games. Derby's are also a pain to get tickets for even if the other team is out of the top 6(spurs then :p ).

Are you a member then? Please tell me how to get a ticket against Arsenal, Liverpool, Chelsea etc.. :)

On Chester Road (the main road to which Sir Matt Busby Way is connected), follow that down past the Bentley and Honda garages and on your left you'll have a CIU Railway Club, enquire on the door.

Quite often people find they can't make matches, get there early and if someone can't make it they'll hold the ticket for you for face price only. I've never not known there to be tickets, even for the big matches. As long as you're early enough (as you should be for some pre-match drinks) you'll almost certainly get one - I'm usually there 3-4 hours before kick-off when I can make it.
