Well Done Pirates-DMC4 Sales Poor

Ah yes, it must be due to pirating and nothing to do with it being a bit of a tedious game, I tried the demo and I'd neither buy nor waste bandwidth downloading it.

DMC4 did not get a big release on the pc, and it is still essentially a console game - so why would gamers buy it on PC? If it offered mouse support the sales probably would have been better.

So I would just like to thank all the idiotic people who pirated this as it obviously decreases the chances of Resident Evil5 ever reaching the PC or Capcom continuing their support.

Why they did not put the same (uncracked so far) DRM on it as Alone in The Dark is a mystery....

I didn't pirate DMC4 but I'd like to call you an idiot back.

Their evidence: "I know it's getting pirated to hell and back (it was up on torrents literally the day it shipped)."

I defy you to tell me a single game that doesn't end up on torrent websites around the time that it ships, or even before it ships, and then I want you to consider why other games succeed where DMC4 failed. You have fallen into the scapegoat and spin trap my friend, you need to look at other reasons such as: -

a.) The game being released much later than it was on consoles, the hard core DMC fans already have it.
b.) The game itself didn't exactly get huge scores. "Tedious" is a word I've heard all to often, not to mention that plenty of reviews seem to cite that it isn't a great port and that it doesn't take advantage of the platform.

Edit: Continuing from what I said about scores, here are Metacritic ratings for each platform: -

1. PC Games: Devil May Cry 4 (2008) 77
2. Xbox 360: Devil May Cry 4 (2008) 84
3. Playstation 3: Devil May Cry 4 (2008) 84

It's okay though, you just accept what you're told based on zero proof.

Edit: I just went to a popular torrent site to see some stats and it seems that right now Mass Effect, Flat Out and GRID are being downloaded just as much as DMC4. I don't hear the developers of those games whinging about sales.

If they wanted to get it to a wide audience, in a copy-protected format, they would've put it on Steam. The end.

And lets not forget any DMC fan will have already purchased the 360 or PS3 version. Hardly like DMC is a major PC franchise.

I havent even seen it in any shop for sale, id blame poor distribution, next to no advertising campaign, should have been on steam.

I didnt buy it, but i didnt download it either, it just held no interest for me, capcom games are too hard, too confusing and too boring to consider buying.

why dont u go and post that on a pirate site ? a bit weird to be thanking all the idiotic pirates here unless your assuming most here are just that.

This really isn't a game that was going to sell good in the first place. It is primarily a game that was designed for consoles in terms of both the the controls and the game "culture". Button mashing games are not popular on PCs and people would only consider buying this for a "change of scenery". This game interests me to a point where I don't even want to try a demo.

AITD2008 has not been cracked yet.

Mass Effect cracks do not work 100% as the game code has traps which the pirates say are bugs but they are only bugs if you have cracked it. Hmm thats not hard to work out is it.

As for the reviews they suck bigtime as the PC version is by far the best one of DMC4 yet the scores are much lower which shows you how much reviews mean nowadays anyway. Guess Capcom did not bribe anyone to pump the scores up for the PC.

PC version has very high res visuals, no screen tearing + lots of AA, fast smooth FPS (even on dated hardware as it has been very well coded), quicker loading times, additional gameplay modes so it is superior in every way yet the reviews do not reflect this as they must be biased and written by immature people.

The tedious gameplay you mention is no more than any other game where it is samey so that point fails as well.

I will be very glad when they make all PC games with hard to crack systems like the latest Securom so the people who do pirate are forced to buy or wait a long time for a workaround.

Its pretty obvious that the idiots who do pirate PC games will not stop unless forced to so it can either go 2 ways. We all end up with mega expensive but under-used hardware or harder to break protection systems are introduced.

I didn't download it, but I'm tempted to now.

I'm not an idiot, thank you very much. :)

Because I do not use or know of any having never ever pirated a PC game in my life.

It is pretty obvious that a minority of people on here do heavily pirate PC games when they talk about bugs which are only present in the pre-release or cracked version or talk about games which have not even been released yet but they are playing!!

blah.....

Without quoting all of your post you make some points which aren't exactly true.

The more protection they put on the media (such as securom, etc.) the more inconvenint they're making it for the end user. You don't see these methods with consoles yet there is just as much (if not more) piracy that goes on there yet no manufacturers seem to complain? I don't get this?

Securom and all the others with online activation are a nightmare mainly because you have so many goes then you have to get into the realms of contacting a support company because you've used up your 3 activations. Then if the activation servers go down or you loose you net connection, etc.

I'm not saying piracy doesn't contribute to poor sales, it does, but the quality of the game and the fact that people are openly avoiding games with this kind of protection on it (as people would like to be able to play the game in 10 years time).
