Micro Helicopters advice please ??

Had a day off today, so have spent some time on the heli.
Managed to get the TUFF skids attached (finally) and have practiced my hovering.
Finally got round to doing a little video which you can see below;

Just got to get to grips with nose in now.

Choices, choices

If it's a new PC case, does that mean you already have one?
I take it you don't already have a heli?
Easy decision :D

Wife went out and I decided to have a hover around the living room, which was fine until somebody knocked at the door which put me off and I ended up landing the heli in the fish tank (which was full at the time), as it short-circuited both the main and tail motors ran up at full speed but I managed to grab a hold of it and get the battery disconnected before I chopped any extremities off.

I've now cracked the canopy (gutted about that as I sprayed it last night), sheered most of the teeth off of the main motor AND rotor cogs and snapped the tail boom beyond reasonable repair.

Not one to be put off I've ordered the MIA G10 Fiberglass Frame Upgrade Kit, an MIA "The Edge" canopy, the MIA flybar stability kit and the MIA Moto-cooler, 2 spare main motors, a new rotor cog thing (whatever you call it), a new boom (which will be spare as you get one with the MIA kit), new tail motor wire and 3 more LIPO's.

Sounds like a bad crash

We need pictures of the MIA kit once you get it fitted though ;)

That would be me.

I ordered from http://www.rchobbyhelicopter.com/
Came in about 5 days, and all parts and shipping were cheaper than what Mario lists on the MIA website.

Thought it was I am off to place order now:) am I right in thinking you have to have the G10 main frame for the tuff struts ?

No you don't need the G10 frame.

When I initially got mine and tried to fit them I thought you did as the screws didn't seem long enough, however, if you leave the 4 white spacers out that you can see on the MIA website, then it screws directly (with a bit of effort) to the OEM frame.

If you get stuck then stick up a post and I'll see where I can help.

Ahh ok thanks for that :) if I get stuck I will give you a shout much appreciated :);)

Hope mine comes in 5 days

looking good, nose in deffo next step, makes flying about much easier as you don't have to keep flying backwards :), be ready for a lot of crashes though.

been all day setting up BeltCP with new spectrum tx and rx... the heli is tranformed as you can crank the head speed up loads making it super agile / stable.

http://www.spektrumrc.com/Products/Default.aspx?ProdID=SPM6600

it's a lovely bit of kit... shame it won't work with walkera 2.4ghz machines as they use there own standard...

Hiya....you should check out a hirobo SRB Quark, one of the best fixed pitch helicopters released in recent years, the quality is second to none and is a blast to fly...they are a tad expensive being around the same price as a blade 400 3d, but as the old adage goes...you get what you pay for.

Hmm looks ok £280 in the uk

Ok that is it I have had it with the 4#3b time to move on  I am not buying anymore spares for it.

It has been -in my case- a stream of spare parts arriving from Hong Kong as every time a fly it somthing brakes. Now some of this is pilot error but also not having enough room to fly. If I make a mistake I hit the furniture, dog,cat and the wife the last one has some enjoyment at times :D

I was also thihking somthing a bit bigger would be more stable and I would fly outside so no furniture to hit.

So choices

I was thinking about the Esky honey bee http://www.buzzflyer.co.uk/RC-Helicopters/ESky-Honey-Bee-LiPo/p-70-124/

Not sure on the quality though parts seem cheap though ?

so suggest me a helicopter of this size is it 450 size?

going to sell my 4#3b even as parts maybe ?

Not what you want to hear, but personally I would not buy another package including radio gear, with the exception of a blade 400 which comes with DX6i. I just don't see the sense in acumulating bad transmitters. Better long term to spend a bit more on a Blade 400 or on building up a trex or mini titan. If you don't want to spend now, the money your saving on spares will soon add up. What about getting a DX6i (now under £90 certain places) and phoenix sim £79 - practice with that (it is brilliant) and kit out a collective pitch heli when ready.

Have a look at flying hobby and rc expert for some deals (beware bad servos and batteries on the cheapest ones) - when you bare in mind dollar exch rates you can get a good setup for not very much.

Really worth spending a month or so playing with the many models in phoenix and then making the jump IMO
