Are there any guidelines on what companies should / have to offer in regards to holiday entitlement.
I was told today " we need to have a chat about your holiday in September you've booked". :(
3 x 5 = 15 days...
I was told today that my entitlement is 18 days + National bank and public holidays.(which is correct according to my contract) and I'm supposedly "way over that" apparently.
(I'm not aware of taking any days off this year TBH)
My old place offered around 25 but it was never a problem and if I took more days off than I had allowed then I simply didn't get paid.
It's normally fairly relaxed here but the attitude today seems to have been a little anal :(

Just remembered one day off I've had LOL, it was last week :D Mums Birthday, and it went to **** as well. :(

You are entitled to a minimum of 4.8 weeks holiday a year. This is statutory holiday. To work out how many days holiday you can take a year, you need to multiply 4.8 by the number of days you work in a week.

For example: if you work a five-day week you are entitled to 24 days paid holiday a year. If your employer gives you bank or public holidays off and pays you for them, they will count towards your statutory paid holiday unless your employment contract says that you get bank or public holidays on top of your statutory holiday.

From the contract...
8. Holiday Entitlement
8.1 The Employer's holiday year runs from January to December in each calendar year (the holiday year)
8.2 Subject to Clause 9, in each holiday year your holiday entitlement will be 18 working days' paid leave which excludes the usual National Bank and public Holidays

(clause 9 is about the company reserves the right to require me to work on a public holiday, if so I will be entitled to etra holiday equal to the period worked)

yes but there are sneaky opt outs in contracts and they can include bank holidays and to a certain extent dictate how you take them, i.e. not all at christmas.

AHHHHHHHH.
8.3... and a WTF moment

"You must give at least two weeks notice of proposed holiday dates and these must be agreed with the directors"
Yep, did that, the boss wrote it on the dam calendar for me months ago..

This is the bit that is a bit WTF
" You may not take more than 5 working days' holiday in any four week period except with the prior consent of the directors."

so what exactly are they complaining about?

so you have had 1 day + 15 your due to take, thats still under your full entitlement in your contract

are they unhappy your taking 15 days alltogether?

so your boss has allowed the extended leave? why are they complaining at you then?

well I don't know the full story yet as the chat he wants is going to be either tomorrow (unlikey as one of the directors is away on two weeks holiday lol and half you lot will be keeping me busy in the dyno)
So more than likely Monday....

Well one would assume by writing them in the diary and on the calendar that is classed as an acceptance... obviously not.
One boss did that..
It's another one that seems to have issue with something..
Perhaps I have had other days off, but can't think of any at most I would have thought it would have been the odd one or two at most..

he seems to think I'm well in to the 20's  (days)

Do you have a HR department that can tell you either way how many days of annual leave you've actually taken, sounds like the way forward to me.

20 days is standard! What! I get 30 + public holidays and that's not nearly enough :)
Tube operators get 52 days!

I get 25+ Bank holidays and 5 days payed sick incase i wake up and can't be bothered. :D
Any sick days i dont use i get in cash when i get back after the Xmas break.
