HI THAR!

I'm after some new music to relax and sing to, with soft vocals and such.
Something like:

Jacks Mannequin
Shiny Toy Guns
Imogen Heap
Bright Eyes

I know its not a great list but could you good people of OcUK recommend me some more music?

Check out Laura Marling aswell, she's only just started out though, but was fantastic when I first saw her on Later with Jools.

x2 on Regina Spektor (check my last.fm in sig)

Check out her album Songs first. It's what got me into her, Soviet Kitsch didn't really do it for me the first time I listened to it.

Maybe consider Joanna Newsom (probably better to start with Ys) but in all honesty that's probably not what you're quite looking for. :)

Not quite what I was looking for but I do like :D

Another great recommendation! [LOL I feel like I'm putting a cliché comment like people do on ebay with that comment]

nitin sawhney beyond skin. ONce you have listened to tha you will probably buy his entire back catalogue, as i did.
Hmmm it is relaxing but not what I'd listen to regularly.

Should have really mentioned Nizlopi in my OP too.
Thanks guys! :D

Jens Lekman
John Cale - Paris 1919
Magnetic Fields
Yo La Tengo

No idea if they're what you're looking for, but they're all great.

Not heard of any of them, I'm new to the genre.
I like expanding my musical tastes \o/

Thanks to you all.

Begin to Hope... Which others are worth grabbing?

In all the excitement, I forgot to throw in my own two suggestions:

Aaron Jerome- Time to Rearrange
José James- The Dreamer

Begin to Hope is her weakest album I think. Still very good though. But it's not her usual style - it doesn't focus as much on her piano playing, compared to her older work anyway.

Definitely check out Soviet Kitsch and Songs. Her first album, 11:11 is extremely rare and when it does pop up, usually sells for $200-400. So if you want to listen to that, you'll need to buy the mp3s.
