I have an Athlon 3800x2 running in an Asus a8n sli mobo and a gforce 7900gs. what Video card should I buy to maximize the performance of this combo. Would an ATI 4870 be a waste in this configuration?
I want to improve my Arma experience, and maybe play FSX

What resolution do you game at and have you overclocked that X2 at all yet? (if not get learning).

It's running at 2.7Ghz, that as fast as I can get it without getting all exotic and technical. My monitor likes 1280x1024.

4850 will be the ideal choice especially if you are not planning on getting a new monitor

4870 if you are planning on getting a new monitor of at least 24 inches

Spot on. For that res the 4850 will be superb. Well worth the upgrade too from your current card.

CPU speed is fine . Just take the guys advice underneath.
