Hi all :)

after an unfortunate and hopefully unusual experience with OCUK B grade last month http://forums.overclockers.co.uk/showthread.php?t=17901896 concerning an MSI P35 Diamond for 12p XD (Still should have worked though right? :mad: ) I need some reassurance.

Having bought the ram @ auction I have 2gb's 1333mhz DDR3 and I now after having bought a P5KC need to rma that as it's squealing. I've seen some DDR3 mobos in b grade for around £90 ... I need to know these will work. Experiences with B Grade mobos? I just cbf sending back my 3rd mobo of this nightmare build ...

thanks.

Buying B grade the items should be in full working order, usualy bits and bobs missing.
Why don't you buy new, along the line of the Gigabyte EP35C DS3R or sell your DDR3 ram and stick with DDR2! :)

if something B-grade doesn't work OcUK will should give you a new replacement or a refund :)

call the shop and speak to them. they'll issue a refund if it's faulty.

It was after the 14 days mate as I didn't have all components

So it's the Asus Maximus Extreme X38 on B grade for £96 or P5E3 new .. I'm tempted by the P5E tbh after my last B grade experience. Also the Maximus has changeable cooling for water/air and I don't want to end up with just the board and the wrong type of cooling.

bgrade mobos work fine in my experience perfect for benching boards as they ususaly just come in a brown box with nothing else (no backplate, cables or cd)

B-grade is clearly marked up as being effectively second-hand (unwanted opened goods/restocks and warranty returns). It is not covered by the Sale of Goods Act in the way that new stuff is, the 14-days that OcUK allow is the result of the Distance Selling Regulations and there is no real warranty to speak of. If the manufacturer's warranty is transferrable, then that is the answer, otherwise you're stuck I'm afraid. Your first point of contact should be MSI (UK) and they'll repair the board for you, as you are the first UK retail customer.

You bought a motherboard for 12p, which is quite a bargain. You then failed to test the board inside the 14 days allowed under the DSR and as it turns out, it doesn't work. I can only commiserate with you, as you probably wouldn't have bought DDR3 RAM if you hadn't got the motherboard at that price.

Try member's market for a proper bargain next time, as at least that way, you know who you're buying it from and you can check their trust.

I buy a lot of kit, and I did have a brief period where I bought extensively from B-grade, but a lot of it isn't that cheap, and the loss of warranty is actually pretty horrendous. I prefer to buy from people like me if I need a cheap piece of kit now - hence Member's Market being my preferred source.

v. true WJ which is why i've put the DDR3 on MM and will hopefully get a fair offer for it .. then I think I will likely buy a P31 DS3L and Corsair 4GB 800Mhz ram tbh

What are you doing with the MSI motherboard? I'd be very interested depending on the RMA situation.

Ok mate the situation is like this;

Received board, BIOS likely corrupted. Upon finding these; it seems it's a problem with these boards (link at bottom of page). I then opened a ticket with MSI about the issue and the reply was directing my to tech support .. great .. so I just replied to the ticket pushing for an RMA and some info about remaining warranty.
