Alfa 156 GTA - Lot of car for the money

Enough with the arguing.

Im confident in saying that if you gave most OcUK members 8K to buy a powerfull family car, a 6 year old Alfa 156 GTA would be very low on that list. Enough said.

I wouldn't buy one for 8K but I do disagree that the 156 looks dated. Get one with the right options and wheels and I think it still looks fresh with lovely lines and the 159 can look amazing too.

Agreed, I wouldn't drop 8k on one but for the right price they are a great car and sound awesome when pushed.

I think it looks horrible, and to be honest, the seats just look, well.... grim :(

I've never understood the fascination with Alfa's, personally I don't like the looks of any of them.

I think I need to drive a few and see what the fuss is all about.

I would like to point out to the OP that that list of cars Fox posted can be found cheaper than that ugly piece of **** you linked to, and if you had that sort of money to spend could be modded themselves to have the same or more power than the 156.

You can't really compare a modded car to unmodded ones.

So for £8k you can have an ugly modded 156 with 280-300bhp or a range of nicer cars that can then be modded as well, I know which I would choose!

So the people who are having a bash at the GTA have you actually ever driver one? The do drive extremely well, have a nice interior (apart from the one with the tan inserts YUK!!!) and look amazing in the right colour.

I'd definitely have it on my list if cars if I had 8K to spend.

Not sure if this is directed at me, but I merely stated I think they look ugly, and conceded that I haven't driven one and should probably do so.

I don't think that anyone has actually slagged off the way it drives, or the interior. Lots of people saying it is ugly, and I personally wouldn't know how one drove because it is one make of car I really wouldn't like to be seen in. Just not my cup of tea.

The main problem people have is that they are saying for that sort of money you can have newer, nicer looking cars with similar power for less money.

Can i add my 2p:

From the advert Estimated to make 280bhp - 300bhp

I can say my ST24 is estimated to make 200bhp with the mods. Exhaust 10bhp, Decat 5bhp, Filter 10bhp etc etc. Until it goes on the rollers you will never know.

Very impressive figures if it makes 300bhp and no doubt would be fun. But 8k for a 6 year old car thats in the same league as the cars Fox listed and in my eyes quite expensive :P

I love the 156 GTA, mental car that can actually handle the 250bhp to the front wheel through very good trick front suspension. SOunds absolutely immense, and is absolutely jaw dropingly gorgeous. I'd have one tomorrow if I could, the only thing holing me back is my preference for RWD. I still absolutely adore them though.
