Hi
Just over 7 months ago I sold my MG ZR and bought an Astra Coupe 1.8. The main reasoning behind this was to get a reliable cheap to run car (after the MG) to help to get my finances back under control.
Unfortunately this turned out to be a bad decision. The car itself is very disappointing - not that great to drive, handles badly and just has no power. The gearing is poor (as is the dreadful gear shift that is a nightmare to get from second to third) so the revs are rather high on the motorway.
The traction control is a nightmare too as is the flat spot at about 1500 rpm. It doesn't move below 3500rpm and if you put your foot down it just pauses, hesitates, thinks about it, then starts to accelerate.
On buying the car the thermostat was faulty and the passenger seat was loose. These were both fixed under the 3 month warranty from the dealer
What really did it though was when I had a small accident in the Motorshow car park. I hit the front bumper just under the front passenger headlight at less than 5mph and I've been kicking myself ever since
Since then the front left radiator fan has stopped working entirely - leading to a warning light on the dash and the car to overheat. The Aircon has stopped working and the ABS and Traction Control has given up
I rushed into it and I want to get rid of it but I'd be lucky to get much more than about £2-£2.5k (and that's with it in great condition)
Does anyone have any idea of how much it would cost to put the car right? I posted on an Astra forum asking about the Cooling Control module (which controls the fan and could have failed) but I haven't got any replies yet
Thanks

 they are rubbish.
Just a shame its ended badly. Oh well its only a car, easiest way to sort all of this will just be to throw it at an indi and take the hit, then sell it at a realistic price for a quick sale. You can then start over and forget all about it!
