I have a Netgear DG834GT wireless router and want to connect my new PC running Vista Home Premium x64 to it.

I have tried a Netgear USB WG111T but the drivers are not available so I need an alternative, either USB or PCI. Any suggestions for X64?

Thanks

Martin

I've used this http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showp...1 54Mbps Wireless Desktop PCI Network Adapter

and this http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showp...WG111 54Mbps Wireless USB 2.0 Network Adapter

Both for Vista 64 and had a lot of troubles with the PCI card. Changed it for the USB and it's worked flawlessly.
Was just to post a similar thread, I have a ZyXel G202 wireless dongle and the Vista 64 drivers are useless and i keep getting bsods ..... but not as many bsods as the driver that appears on windows update

So this Netgear WG111, you've had no problems at all? If so i'll get one ;)

Would really like one of these but they have no Vista 64 drivers :(

I have tried the WG111T usb model but the software just crashes out every time I use it. I have found numerous other posts about this on the net and unfortunately no solution:mad:

Never used the software it came with. Installed the drivers, and disabled the program from running. Then use Vista's own network manager. Sorted :)

PCI one was a pig, also the wireless signal was lost badly as the back of my computer is in a bad place for it.

The USB one however has done exactly as I hoped; works flawlessly with no fussing around. Can't say I used the software it came with, as the Vista networking manager handles it easier I'd say.

Ive got 2 PCI cards somewhere, think they are Linksys, the aerial fell of the first one - stupid design my computer is usually under a desk so how is it going to get a signal anyway :/

I was considering digging one out till i remembered how frustrating it is to use and i think id rather just disconnect this computer from the internet and use my laptop instead! Saying that, i would rather like to try GRID online :(

I ended up buying a Wireless Access Point for Vista x64 as I really struggled to find drivers for any cards when I built my computer last year, I stuck some different firmware on it and now I use it as a bridge and plugged it in via ethernet to my computer.

Solid as a rock, and the connection doesn't drop like I used to have in XP with a PCI card.

Got a Linksys WMP54G card which works with Vista 64bit. The sad thing is, Linksys don't provide a suitable driver so I had to rely on a version built by some chap on their forums.

Is it really that difficult to make 64bit drivers for wireless adapters
Up until now, Vista64 has been the most stable operating system i have ever used.

If i had a spare socket in my room i'd be very tempted to get one of those homeplugs! Think i may have to make room for one :p

ZyXel is superb when it works, managed to play GRID online last night for a couple of hours. I get the feeling that only certain things make it crash, but i cant figure out what it is.

I recently found a TF2 server where, using the ZyXel i get a ping of between 5-10 ... which is nice :)

Not bothered what things look like, its gonna be under a desk anyway (router's downstairs)... Never been keen on netgear, think im gonna give one of these Safecoms a go ;)

use the driver from here

http://safecom.cn/code/support/DMF.aspx?pid=321&pos=1#1

download the zip file, extract it to say C:\Drivers\Wireless

don't bother running the setup, just find the Vista\x64 folder and tell the hardware wizard to scan that folder

i've got no idea what the setup runs, but windows xp & vista can manage the wireless perfectly themselves, no point installing any extra software :)

the zip file has Windows 98 - Vista64(and 2008 64) drivers inside
