Hi Guys, wondering if you could help me out here.

I purchased a brand new 42" Samsung Plasma on Saturday (Not from OCUK) and immediately noticed some screen burn on the bottom half of the screen.

I spoke to the retailer and they informed me that their warranty does not cover screen-burn (even though it was there when i turned it on!!). So I called Samsung and got the same story from them.

It's been a couple of days now and the screen-burn hasn't faded at all, so I'm guessing it isn't going away any time soon.

Is there anything I can do to get rid of the screen-burn?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Can you post what settings you are using?

I think it is a general rule of thumb to use under 50 on both brightness and contrast when 'running in' the plasma for the first 200 hours or so.

Also, do you have Dynamic contrast on high? If so, turn that down/off.

Sounds like he's saying the screen burn was there when he got it. That's unacceptable if you bought it as new.

A555 came with TV menu OSD screenburn straight away, report it and don't let them flog you off with it. Managed to get a refund.

Do it ASAP, past 7 days you're screwed. Also if you take your time they'll say you must have done it.

I contacted them within 48 hours upon delivery the TV had existing screenburn, noticed it soon as I switched it on. If you go to the main menu, the letters and outline box was where the screenburn was.

I’m getting very bad image retention on my PS50Q97HD plasma being going on for about a month now and seems to be getting worse, must say it’s not screen burn as it disappears after a few hours but leaving anything static on the screen instantly causes image retention! It’s driving me mad, I’ve got a thread on AV forums I think i will contact Samsung as its not acceptable for a TV costing me close to £900 to be doing this!
