Opinions on these shoes for my wedding

Hi all

Can you take a look at this (it's the black "Ambassador" model bottom right) and let me know what you think about the style?

I've already bought some but haven't worn them yet so can still take them back. The wedding is formal and traditional, and the shoes are comfortable and I personally like them, but before I get married (this weekend) I'd like to hear some other opinions.

look ok , if you like them then buy them, its what you think that counts (well what you missus to be tells you what you think anyways :p)
 
well looks like clown shoes to me. I personally don't like the look of them but they are the sort you are 'supposed' to wear for weddings and such.
 
You are right that it's myself and WTB that count the most in this opinion, but I still want to obey etiquette and formal dress sense :).
 
It's a brogue / semi - brogue which isn't the most appropriate for formal dress. Ideally you would want a cap toe oxford or a gibson.
 
They look like my old school shoes to be honest. I'd find something a lot shinier and without all the holes on them.

The other two shoes above looked much better imho.

Maybe popping into a wedding formal hire place for ideas would be better?

Bah! Ok I'm keeping them as my work shoes and going into town to get some more for my wedding! Should have researched this in advance but hey-ho.

I am pretty sure I have the Oxford shoes when I need to dress smart to visit clients etc, they are nice to wear, costco sell them for £50 odd.
 
Their site is a bit confusing, I don't think the Embassy is the brogue, it's a toe cap shoe with a slightly squared off end. Personally I prefer the Oxford which is a rounder toe cap, but it will ultimately depend on what fits best.

Oh yeah, I was looking at the Ambassador, which is the brogue.

I prefer the oxford, but I had a quick look on some other sites and it appears to be very polished, almost patent leather.

If it is then I'd go with the Embassy as I'd only wear something that polished with evening wear.

That was the one I meant...I also got confused by the menu system on the right! It's the Ambassador brogue style shoe that I have. Just called John Lewis and they don't have any blummin Oxfords in, gahhh! Wedding stress setting in.

Very nice, but I would not wear brogues at a wedding. Choose the Oxford instead; it's a classic style, and perfect for the occasion (especially if you wear a morning suit, as I did). A good Oxford will be highly polished, but not patent leather. Looks like that one is definitely non-patent, just well buffed. Full of win!

Cheers. I've been calling around and nowhere near me does them, so I'll have to try and find another shoe that's suitable. BTW I am wearing a morning suit.
 
Morning suit + Oxfords = MAN OF LEGEND. :cool:

But you can get an alternative shoe in a similar style.
