...whats considered a "good" time?

Obviously theres going to be "Quick" but for a modified road car example, what can be expected to be a 'good' time?

Entirely depends on the car - FWD, RWD? Something like an Impreza is going to be quicker than a 205 GTi for a example.

As said its dependant on the car but IMO anything getting below 12 secs is a pretty quick car.

sub 12s is approaching 1 litre sports bike territory so would be an amazingly fast car. Sub 15 must be around 'quick' for a road car.

what you need son is a 10 second car

I'd say mid to low 13s is a good, fast road car, 12s and below is a very quick road car.

As standard my car can do one in 14 seconds I think (if memory serves) - few mods can see it in to the mid to low 13's :) - and thats 0-60 in 7 seconds flat.

The elise ran low 13's and that was bloomin quick, so I'd say anything under 14 is a pretty fast car

Hi there

For me:-

15s - A nippy car that don't hang around
14s - Quite fast territory, certainly a car to make you grin - S2000 performance
13s - Getting pretty damn quick now, impressive
12s - Stupidly fast, even more so if its a road car
11s - Crazy stupid fast and normally limited to the fastest supercars or drag cars
10s - Not many road cars can do this, apart from very heavily modified ones
Sub 10s - Normally not road cars or cars that have had more spent on mods than you can buy a house for.

I am not into quarter mile racing as I never really have found the excitment in launching a car hard of the mark and having no sympathy for the mechanicals.

Needless to say guys in the US running the same setup, saleen supercharger, blower, exhaust as myself generally see around 11.5s @ 120mph on road tyres. Those who set the suspension up for drag racing specifically and fit sticky rubber have got into 10s area with the same kind of power as mine is producing with 130mph terminals. :)

Sometimes you get fast 1/4 mile cars due to their gearing but on road performance can be slow as they run out of top end puff.

Only if you bolted a rocket to it I suspect. With a normal driver a standard newage Impreza STI will get about 13.5-14.0s . At the terminal velocity of about 95-10mph, 4-wheel drive losses are still pretty low. I would expect yours to be closer to about 15-15.5?
