Need some quick cash and been offered a job delivering. I know its bad for car etc however that's not the question.

Can I claim any money for the mileage and if so how much?

surely the mileage is all your are being paid for. Don't forget you will need to add business mileage to your insurance, and this will load the premium up considerably.

Well I spoke to the area manager and he said you get £XX per delivery and then some of them (employee's) claim back up to 28p (he thinks) per mile upto 10k miles

Also they provide 3rd party business insurance so miles while working apparently don't count towards it

Nope, in most units the driver is responsible for their own insurance. It adds £50-£60 a year to the wifes policy.

edit to above, Really? damn that's good setup! :)

They can reimburse you 40p per mile for the first 10k miles, 25p thereafter.

If they do less, you can claim tax back on excess, if they do more, you get taxed on excess.

They can but they dont. This is the worst sort of job, it totally is not worth the hassle.

A guy at my local Dominos delivers pizza in an Audi A6 2.4 Quattro. How he isnt making a loss I've no idea.
