Ok, to cut a long story short...

My family have for the past few years been contemplating emigration to New Zealand. They've always been undecided - whether or not its worth risking what they have here and what they've worked hard for.

For me it's an easy decision, and I've told them I'm heading out there with or without them. I'd love to go out there with them, not only would it make it easier to settle in and have a friendly face around - it would take away a huge amount of work that I'd need to do as a fresh graduate.

Their other option is renting/buying a flat in England and buying a holiday home in the south of france. Not only would they be able to keep their jobs, but they'd be near family, friends, and they wouldn't need to 'burn their bridges' as they put it. If they moved out to NZ, there would be no going back, unless they wanted to start again from nothing.

I feel hopeless in this whole situation, and the main concern is finance. There is nothing more on this earth that I want more - than my urge to move to New Zealand with my parents and Brother.

So, this is my question...

There's a year and a half before the time we'd move out there, if it was to all go ahead. What can I do bearing in mind I'm in my final year of Uni until June next year that would help me create some sort of 'savings'?

I don't care how much effort is required, I'd be willing to do anything for this - I'd just need to make sure my degree came first.

Oh, and the first sentence of this post is a bit of a lie.

Oh, and if its an idea... I have a duplex kidney :p

What skills do you have?

Could always play some online poker. If you are any good it's pretty easy to make a bit on the side when you play online.

Can a mod close this thread please?

I take it you were not happy with the replies, :)

You should know by now that responses like that are a certainty. I'm sure there will be some sensible posts soon.

I wish you the best of luck with whatever you decide and I hope it works out well for you.

And while he's at it - he could take my Paypal details and send me a large sum of money every month :p

You can close your own threads.

Try an get one or two jobs to fit around uni and spend as little as possible over the next year. Try and do the best you can at Uni to give yourself a good chance of getting a job as soon as you get over to NZ.

If we all knew of a quick money making idea we wouldn't be here :) And I certainly wouldn't share it with everyone.

Working lots as a student isn't going to make much of a difference to help my parents. I've worked 22hrs a week for the last two years whilst I've been at uni, and worked full time in my hols. Didn't come away with enough to make a dent on what's needed.

I'm after something I can do from home, that requires a bit of skill.

I'm doing a Forensics Degree, I've had a little experience graphic designing for a company, made a site for a new Subway store (the s/wich store).

As for Poker I've played a lot, but gambling is gambling and I get easily led towards losing cash.

I suppose if I can't figure something out a way of doing something myself there's not a lot of hope - I'll go away and have a think for a while.

I've already got a job in a bar lined up for my next year at uni, and I'm currently working full time at a supermarket.

Sounds like your doing all you can really.

There are no magic mega earning jobs you can do from home easily as everyone would be doing it. If you want to earn a decent amount then your going to have to think of something you can offer at an attractive rate, be it a skill or product. (You can earn a bit doing web design but you need to be good as everyone is doing it these days).
