S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Clear Sky

For those of you that want to play through the original Stalker with some mods, try one of these -

Oblivion Lost - A (very good) attempt to get Stalker more like the original 'vision' of the game. It adds lots of cut out features like all the original monsters and mutants, driveable cars more weapons and loads more.

Priboi Story - A whole new storyline, just about to be updated to patch 1.1. Similer idea to Oblivion lost just not following the original Strelok storyline.

Its like playing the game for the first time all over again with either of these mods

Other smaller mods worth looking out for are

Float32 - improves perfromance and visuals by tweaking the shaders
Stalker Weather Overhauled - (not compatible with float32) as it says it makes the weather effects much better, it looks lovely. This mod includes a great mod called Sky4ce 1.78 which gives a great depth of field effect and proper motion blur (if you want it)
Particle Enhancement 2 - Improves the particle effects i.e. better bullet impact effects, better anomaly effects etc. This can be used in conjunction with a mod called Blood Particles which gives you gibs! its a subtle effect and really works well

Hope this helps someone :)

Ta - I'll give these a shot

Don't know where else to put this, but I've just helped Kruglov through the wave of army guys and killed them all (mwahah). We then get to the underpass which I have to navigate through avoiding the flame jumpy upy things. I do that, and the scientist follows. However - when I get to the other side - he just stops - turns back toward the underpass and then holds his pistol up. I shoot the three other zombies up toward the check point - but the idiot doesn't do anything! He doesn't move at all.

Ah i had that bug aswell. I had to reload fr4om an earlier save game to get passed that.

He froze and never moved.

Looking forward to this, especially if they've ironed a few bugs out and maybe improved the inventory/datapad screens a bit. As someone else said the environmental effects look amazing.

If it's an improvement from STALKER it will be on my shopping list as the game was good if you forgave it's few 'quirks' that needed addressing.

Clear Sky looks a bit CoD from the videos, not so much about exploration and side quests as squad based combat.

CoD is very linear though whereas in Clear Sky you'll be able to pick the faction you fight for and make other choices that affect the way the game goes.

Oh ok, should be intersting, kudos to the dev's for trying a different approach rather than just extending the original story or just making up a few new quests, looks decent overall.

When is this due to get released and have there been any reviews? I'm asking because I was extremely surprised to find a review of this in this months issue of Total Film. Then again wouldn't be surprised if they just made it up.

Just read the review in the October PC Zone thats come through my door this morning, and I am suddenly really interested in getting the game. Only one comment in the review had me worried.

it's still a dog-eared loveable scamp of a game, peppered with almost endearing glitches

The first game had me wait 3 months for a patch before I could continue further due to a crashing bug, so I may wait for a couple of patches before buying.

Even though that got me worried the rest of the review speaks very highly of the game. I am interested in the constant moving factions fighting for control points (like a constantly evolving Battlefield 2 according to the review), the weapons upgrade system sounds good. They also meation that at night it's completly dark, finding the artifacts is also also meant to be a lot more difficult but makes finding them a lot more rewarding.
