In here and out there.
Both myself and a guy i work with have the N95 8Gb, while I am on Vodafone, he is on the 3 network.
I updated my phone to the latest firmware which included the ASR system where the phone automatically switches orientation depending on whether you are in portrait or landscape mode.

My workmate has tried to update his phone through NSU yet he still does not have the ASR mode.

So, are 3 just taking ages in releasing the firmware back to Nokia for distribution though NSU or are we missing something.
I did suggest he should visit a 3 store for a firmware update, however I'd rather get an answer on what is happening with NSU first.

Any ideas?

Cheers!

Nokia release an unbranded firmware for their phones and then it's up to manufacturers to approve a branded version for their network. Some networks are very good at approving firmware updates and some have given up completely.

If you want to always have the latest firmware then debrand your phone completely. There's plenty of guides if you search Google. It's very easy to do but will probably void your warranty.

Thanks for the info guys, I believe the phone has never had a firmware update, and he boughtit long before the firmware update came along that has the ASR function.
I'll double check to see what version he has on thursday when we are both back in work.

Cheers.

V 20.0.016 is the latest.

You can find out which version you're running by typing in *#0000# on the phone.

Make sure if you're going to debrand your phone to keep a note of the product code incase you ever have to return it under warranty.
