Considered the Canon A720 IS? One of the highly regarded compacts. On sale at a high street shop atm.

Yeah, but some have more zoom, some have IS, some larger reso etc etc etc

Thanks for the replies, just letting you know that i did buy it. Here are a couple of my favourite pics with it so far. I know nothing of how to take a good photo but i can really notice the improvement on my old 2 mega pixel camera.
