Top Spin 3

1 more slam to do on legend! Can't believe I've played over 120 games already:D

Then I have to beat the legends on their fav courts and then I'm done with it :)

Would anyone recommend this as a SP game only? (I've no interested in multiplayer at the moment) I should I was hooked on top spin 2 all last summer!

I bought it mainly for MP and don't really like it. Single player is great, the harder levels are very tough. I can't beat a women with federer on hard :(

Its not as easy to pick up and play as TS2. Takes more work but far more varied and rewarding.

I picked this up for the Wii this afternoon, and after an hours play, I must say I'm rather disappointed at the moment. No online, no career mode are a big factor. I'm going to try and give it a couple of days to get used to, a lot depends on the timing of your swing, but as a tennis player, my swing does not coincide with what the Wii wants, which results in a lot of slice shots.

I think it has potential to be a great group game, but the lack of SP features is a shame :(

I can't beleive the wii version doesn't include a career mode thats like most of the single player removed! :o

Anyone still playing this?

Just ordered my copy for 360, once I've gotten going in the career would love to get some games against OcUKers.

hopefully getting this next week. demo was quite good. Controls are a tiny bit tricky but serving seems easiest :D I managed a few aces anyway. Seems a bit more realistic than Virtua Tennis Whats online mode like? Can you setup your own tournaments?

Extremely dissapointed now. Was loving this game in SP. Maxed out my player to overall 70. Was hoping you could then juggle your player about to find a decent balance online.

Nope it's locked, so the only way to change the stats is to start another career :(

Can't be bothered with that tbh.

I will finish the SP career and sell the game. I've put my stats into areas that clearly judging by the top players doesn't need to be done.

I just played a guy with 100 on forehand and backhand 100 speed, 100 power and tiny stats on everything else.

Even though I could return his serve his next shot was a bullet. His speed made sure he could get on the end of what ever was thrown his way.
Probably shouldn't tell you this but there is a bug in the game where you can get as much XP as you want. It works as follows (PS3, change buttons accordingly for Xbox360):

  1. Earn some XP from winning a match
  2. Press X to select which talent you are putting the points into (e.g. Forehand), upgrade it until you run out of points, and hit X again to finish upgrading.
  3. Press X on the same skill to start modifying it again, press LEFT on the d-pad to remove the levels you added previously down to what you started on (you will notice your XP is credited back). Hit O to cancel your new changes. (do not hit X like you did in step 2)
  4. Your rank in the skill will go back up to the level you set in step 2, but you will still have the XP you got when you removed the levels in step 3.
  5. Repeat 3 over and over until you have enough XP to max out your char after one match.
Using this cheat you can basically create a lvl 70+ character after a single game and blitz the career. I did this on my 2nd character because I couldn't be bothered to go through the career again.

I picked this up last week and I am really enjoying it, more so than any other game for AGEESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSss

Created a really hot player as well, Sharapova with bigger knockers ;)

extremely difficult game! its too easy on easy mode so i bump it up to normal and despite the fact i can occasionally hit power and line shots the opponent nearly always gets it. Playing an exhibition match me federer against murray and i get tanked 6-0 6-0 and yet in a lot of the matches about 10 times at deuce it is sooo annoying. i will take a 40 love lead with my brilliant line return. (for some reason i find it a lot easier to do timed line shot returns rather than as a rally) but they always get back in due to my errors (power and line shots off by inches etc)

if the timing is off by a millimetre power and line shots go out it is hugely annoying because opponent eats every other shot for breakfast.
can server okish but rarely get an ace. dont get me started on power+sharpshot serving :( seems insanely difficult to consistently keep it in the box.
timing is hardest part of the game for me as even when you think you judge it perfectly the computer just makes it go out bah... oh and your player always seems slower than theirs....

I am FLYING through it on easy in career so i thought i give it a try on Hard in exhibition, played Sharapova and got beat 6-3. 7-5. I can hold my serve but on return i get my ass kicked with me occasionally win a point. Thought i could hold it to tie break on the second set but got broken in the last set and lost 7-5.

easy doesnt look as good though. Shots are high and slow by most heh. Any tips on this game are welcome please. Ive got blisters on my thumbs and fingers struggling with the DS2 ps3 controller. I soooo wish there was an option to change the controls the L2 and R2 button usage (line ane power shots) doesnt seem right and its breaking my hands! :(

i dont wanna even think about hard level...on normal if i dont place a PERFECT shot down the line they always get it back its frustrating as hell like their superhuman....ill have to go back to tennis school i guess. Bad thing about the school i will tell you is this: the shots that are played at you are slow and easy to get so yeah of course you can hit them with brilliant timing and power etc.

Also how come you dont see the timing/power/arrow indicators outside the training school? Should at least be the option to have them in the career/exhibitions etc.

Which view is the best to use as well? I'm using TV close.

have to say the graphical effects on this game are really good. I like to see players sweating their buttcheeks off hehe

couple of other things which are a bit annoying because they are easily put in the game.

On preview of a match it will show your stats (like career wins and tourney wins) but it will never do this for the opponent why? Also would have been nice to have injuries and trainers and ballboys in the game.

had an epic battle with Nadal on Normal Difficulty (remember before i said it was way too difficult)

he eventually won

6-0 6-0 6-7 (11-13) 6-3

Now you might think what have i got to be pleased about? he destroyed me (i was Federer)

3rd set was an epic that showed i can beat the mother! ridiculous long rallys lol. But i managed to beat him without using the L2 R2 special shots too much. Also i started hitting aces good now :D (using R2) made a real difference in winning that tiebreak.

Only thing that concerns me a tad is that:

most of my points are......

My serve (Aces :D or great serves that force him wide = passing shot winner from me)

Long long rallies with me running all over the place hanging in there and he makes an error (he hits the net or hits the ball out of play trying a special shot)

So i need to practice L2 shots more as i find them easier to do than R2 shots without ballsing things up.

Ive been reading that there are quite a few exploits with the online version

- serving from outside your serve position to deliver a freakish angle serve making it impossible to return?

- somehow lagging the other player on their serve?

anyway have to return the game to video shop today....but i'll see if i can pick up this game on pre-owned for £20 ish quid :D
