Anyone interested in this game?

Just noticed it's out in less than 3 weeks and I really enjoyed the 2nd one. Online was a nightmare if you hadn't mastered the special and risk shots, but they have removed them from 3rd one to make it more usuer friendly..

http://uk.xbox360.ign.com/articles/867/867699p1.html

I've pre-ordered it for £27 using 11% quidco. For that price it's gotta be worth a punt and if the reviews suck I will cancel it.

Yeah I think it looks good too, I hammered the last one out in a week. I'm not a big fan of Virtua tennis after the first one on the arcade.

Only other rival may be smash court tennis 3 released at the end of june, but I've never played any of those before.

ooooooooooooooooooh

Loved number 2 - good spot danny :D

I like it when games kinda just creep up on you out of the woodwork :)

Shamikebab;11624441Very repetitive and most rallies simply boil down to hitting it from left to right until someone misses it. .[/QUOTE said:
Duh, thats how tennis matches are won ;)

Kinda like saying Guitar Hero is repetitive because you just keep going til you miss too many notes ;)

I'm glad they have taken the risk shots out though, they ruined the flow of the game a bit.

Quidco on the £25.99 - forgot to mention!! So in respect £24.95 hehe. :p

They dont do quidco on pre-orders so take the :p right back at ya! :D

I asked on their forum. Then to cover it they usually add a few quid on after the pre-order date so if you use quidco on release day you dont gain anything.

they do do quidco on pre-orders, but it only gets tracked once dispatched thats all...

i got my quidco transaction registered for MGS4 and i had that pre-ordered for ages ;)

Well if it's the site I think that guarentees next day delievery and has a price match forum then they dont do quidco on pre-orders or let you use the recommendation credit.

Dont believe me ask on the forum, you will see my post asking and they tell me they dont.

Mines on the way too, I read OXM and they gave it an 8 of 10. They preferred it to topspin 2 but said a couple of the controls using the bumpers where tricky.

Tommorow off as well to start hammering it!

just for future reference (and i'm certainly not trying to prove anyone wrong here) the site i pre-ordered from (the site that is one of the big boys in the online game purchasing world, which is owned by one of the high street stores) has just shown up in my quidco account despite being a pre-order... this is the second time this has happened i also got the quidco thing with MGS4 on a pre-order, so people need not worry about pre-orders getting tracked ;)

Thats because we are talking about different shops. I said the shop I was talking about had a price match forum. Does the one you are talking about?

NO :p The shop I was talking about does not pre-order quidco.

Anyway the game is much harder than the last one which is good becuase it will make the tennis much more varied than serve, cross court return one way then smash it back across like you could so easily in TS2.

Tutorial is a must.

I'm thinking going the womens route for career again to make the sets shorter?

Yep to go through all the shots and buttons etc. I've been playing over an hour and I've done 'How To's' 'Baseline lessons' and halfway through service. Still then got mixed training, volley lessons and special shots.

They have done a much better job with being able to mix up shots, especially on service.

Just played exhibition match and it feels like if you are playing tennis in slow motion, just can't generate any power in shots, every shot feels like its lob or some thing and as danny said definitely not an arcade style game.Especially if you like vt3 style tennis game you will take some time to get use to the slow pace of this game.

As I say training is a must to learn how to time the extra power. Its not about pressing the button it's about holding it down and releasing it at the correct time. I was double tapping on the serve to start with until I realised you dont press you release.

The service training is tough on the last tier but really needed. I can now serve consistently hard and to the edges.

sDanny you git, getting practice in before our games!

I'm bored ;)

Honestly I wont do anything other than the tutorial and then wait for you to finish the same or until your ready. I have people coming over for dinner later so you will have time to get it done :)

Then young soulja boy, your going down!

I'm really liking this, they have done a great job. That awkward risk shot system is gone. Replaced with LT for a near the line shot and RT for added power. Or you can use both or neither. Left analogue still controls shot direction.

Using the Right analogue for serving takes a bit of practice not sure I will use that much in game.

Your not going to get the same old rallys with this game. Very good update imo.
