My girlfriend has just purchased her first car, a little 1.2 Corsa.

She is looking to get the insurance sorted and was wondering if I would be a named driver on it (which is fine by me). However, if she has a crash and I am a named driver would I lose my NCB on my own main policy or would it just be her?

Thanks in advance!

Just her.

Even if you crash her car then she would lose her NCB and your's would be fine. But you would have to tell your insurance company that you've had a fault claim etc which would go against you.

Excellent, thanks for clearing that up.

If she crashes, I then don't have to say anything to my insurance company? As I've not made a claim I presume?

Of course not. Just be logical... how would it possibly increase the risk of you making another claim? That's what the premium is about. It she is a named driver on your own insurance policy and she makes a claim on her policy the fact she has had an accident may increase the premium though.

Excellent thanks for the advice - NB. shes never getting insured on one of my cars!

lol would you like to make a wager on that?

Once shes got used to having her own car and being all "independant" then sooner or later shes going to want to play with your toys and if you dont let her then she wont let you play with her anymore :D
