280GTX Vs 4870 in COD4 @ 1680*1024 4AA

Right, so is your system set up exactly the same as the reviewers? Have you tested the same levels in the same way? From all the reviews I've seen 8800GT SLI beats a GTX280 as well. So what in all of that makes you doubt a 4870 isn't faster than a 280 at 1680x1050 when every reviewer says it is?

I have personally benchmarked the 2 systems side by side...

Q6600 MSI P35 4870
Q6600 Gigabyte 650i 8800GT SLI

my point was more that those benchmark results in the table aren't very conclusive and theres some discrepancies in the results as well.

I don't remember the numbers off hand but the SLI setup overclocked, against the 4870 not overclocked was around 30% faster - with the SLI setup at stock was still around 20% faster - as it wasn't my 4870 I didn't get to overclock it.

if you read all the web reviews then those results stack up. Your point seemed to be a 4870 can't possibly be faster as my 8800GT SLI set up is faster than a 4870. Which seems a jump in logic.

stupid askin if these new cards can run
*280GTX Vs 4870 in COD4 @ 1680*1024 4AA*

if older cards can run it nps....

It all depends on what kind of performance you want - i personally can tell difference at < 80fps and my card drops below that often at that res and high settings.

I posted this because i wanted someone to give me a comparison of the cards because i can get the 280 second hand at around the same price as a high end 4870.

Now **** off and go flame someone else.
