Stalker - Clear Sky Official Sys Requirements out

A couple of days ago, GSC Game World have, due to many requests, officially announced the system requirements for S.T.A.L.K.E.R. Clear Sky. These go as follows:

Minimum configuration:

* Microsoft® Windows® XP(Service Pack 2)/Microsoft® Windows® 2000 SP4
* Intel Pentium 4 2.0 Ghz / AMD XP 2200+
* 512 MB RAM
* 10 GB free hard disc space
* 128 MB DirectX® 8.0 compatible card / nVIDIA® GeForce™ 5700 / ATI Radeon® 9600
* DirectX® 9.0 compatible sound card
* LAN/Internet/Cable/DSL for Internet games
* Keyboard, Mouse

Recommended configuration:

* Microsoft® Windows® XP/Vista (SP1)
* Intel Core 2 Duo E6400 / AMD 64 X2 4200+
* 2 GB RAM
* 10 GB free hard disc space
* 256 MB DirectX® 9.0c compatible card* / nVIDIA® GeForce™ 8800 GT / ATI Radeon® HD 2900 XT
* DirectX® 9.0 compatible sound card
* LAN/Internet/Cable/DSL for Internet games
* Keyboard, Mouse

Looks good. Should be able to run it close to max settings

Why is it a bad thing?

Recommended specs mean nothing to what the game will look like full tilt. Don;t think there has ever been a game that runs on max settings at the recommended spec. Minimum spec is usually about the lowest you could get whilst getting a framerate above 1.

You kidding? Those recommended specs are pretty high-maybe not for most people on here, but if you consider what your average gamer who buys a Dell may have they may be pretty hard pushed.

My 8800GT doesn't nor does my X1900 XT struggle.

You're talking to a guy who had a X1900XT and a 8800GTS run Stalker - it can't do full world dynamic lighting at 1680x1050 to save its life. If you say your two cards mentioned do not struggle with that, I'm inclined not to believe you.

On low settings (static lighting) the original stalker ran silky smooth on my old 9800pro, so I'm guessing min requirements are pretty realistic.

maybe it was the drivers u were using^^
my 8800gts worked fine at 1680

Why don't they recommend DX10 in recommended list since CS uses DX10 and they'd want to promote this ?

I played STALKER 1920x1200 on my 8800GT max everything and got a solid 50fps. It's only on the 320MB 8800GTS that the game chopped like a chinese chef on.

Does anyone know what the price on steam for this is going to be? I can pre order it for £17.99, but if steams a few quid more ill go for that instead.

Specs look fine, i thought they'd be higher. This could be another great game from a very interesting developer.

Yeah they look like the same spec for the orig, and the orig plays fine on my system at max detail.
