How can anyone live like this?

How is that similar to an unhealthy obsession with cartoon girls showing their knickers?

Exactly the same, both involve spending hours doing what most of the world population would consider unsocial. And come on here, does this hobby hurt anyone?

No, its exactly the same **** as americans go on every time some kid shoots up his school, "oh noes, he played {insert some game} and it influenced him to do it". All you lot are doing is scare mongering "oh noes he likes watching ANIMATED girls show off their knickers, he must be exactly like that outside his room". Geeze, it doesn't even have any proper actors who have to do this stuff, which is more then can be said for porn dvd's. Which if all this pile was there'd be less complaints.

Besides generalising all anime to be "knicker showing" is just as retarded as generalising all games as being violent like that retard in US, who keeps trying to sue makers of GTA. Seriously, how many of you have just as big collection of games, be they bought or downloaded? At least this guy is supporting the industry which is damn lot more then some computer games infusiasts are doing by downloading them all. Seeing as we got no idea what country this comes from, things like that in Japan are a little bit more accepted, normal working people read manga on trains to work. Be a little bit open minded instead of saying "Oh noes that guy is diffirent from us, lets rip on him"

Do you go around the street and shoot people/steal cars after playing GTA? Or try to beam yourself somewhere after watching too much startrek? Seriously think here for a minute. Unless he goes and hurts others, this is a hobby, how many think train spotting is weird? Its under the same line.

Third pic is a different room and different camera.

First guy isn't so bad to be honest. He's obviously obsessed with Anime, but i dont think that's a valid reason for calling him a paedo.

2nd guy, third pic, needs a slap.

I am just annoyed that so many people here are stupid enough not to realise that not all anime is the same. And I bet their experience of anime comes from watching heavily edited with **** voice acting cartoons which have about 50% at best of the original story line anyway. Which in themselves were originally aimed at kids like western cartoons are, either that or when they browse for porn, a random link redirects them to hentai site which is NOT the same thing as anime.

i never got this whole anime thing? isnt it just like pokemon but p0rn?

No, pokemon would be anime. Anime is not a genre. It is a term used for a media type, i.e. animation. Within that media type you can find all different genres like you can with any other media types, i.e. the normal non-animated programs we tend to see over here.

One genre which tends to always be jumped on by people who don't know much about the subject is p0rn, referred to as hentai, but thats only one small part of what's available. I suspect that the people who vehemently spout off about it are probably closet tenticle fetishists. I don't recall much "cartoon child porn" being in things like Ghost in the Shell for example.

Anime is a generic term which can cover all animation. Your western Family Guy, Simpsons and Scooby Doo would come under that in Japan. It only tends to be over here that it's taken to just mean Japanese animation.

To a western mind it seems as though they're sick and twisted, but this is very common in Japan. Anime is a way of life over there and its easy for a non-social Japanese to become attached to it.

he is living it though. look at his flooring! his bed is on a jap futon type thing as well by the looks of it.

Maybe I've missed something but how do we know this person isn't Japanese and/or lives in Japan? :p

Even the girl from Ghost in the Shell seemingly needs to get naked to use her thermoptic camouflage. How comes the guys in the film don't need to?

Nope, all my anime experience comes from watching subbed high res animes from online, and they are mostly as people describe them :p

ahhh so you are pirating programs straight from their broadcast in Japan which has different cultural sensibilities and laws instead of purchasing DVDs which have been passed by the BBFC (or US equivalent) .... :)

And even using that as a source there's plenty of programs which are not like that.

Oh and Tunney, you are incorrect about Thermoptic camouflage.

Yes, as most of it never comes out here. Obviously there are some anime that are different but the vast majority are loli/ecchi ones, and even the greatest animes like Neon Genesis Evangelion would probably be considered pretty sick by a lot of people in this country. Not by me personally but I can see why people would think so.

IIRC it's a skin tight suit she wears.

Anyway, for anyone who thinks all anime is the same I have one word for you.
Totoro.

Didn't like NGE, too emo. But think this is getting derailed

Awesome stuff, Ghibli movies are some of the best I seen given their time.

Manga > anime
True for practically everything I seen, only a few exceptions.

Even in Japan, the guy's room in the first two photos would be considered unusual. I get people who enjoy Ghibli movies, GITS, Gundam, all-things anime related, and I also understand people who enjoy collecting toys/dolls of their favourite characters etc. But this guy's fascination with female lolli type anime characters can't be healthy in a forming relationships with women kinda way.

Me and the missus collect anime and game related figures and models, there's no way in hell she'd ever let me have anywhere near that amount of girly-figures :)

Urgh! I can't stand Bud Light !
Dude, it's clearly Coors Light! BL comes in a blue can. :p

How about this guy?:

Classy, no? I bet his lungs are in similar condition, including the empty packs!

I always thought her camo was part of her augmentation where as the blokes was a cloak / hoodie.

I don't think it's integral to her body/skin, as she still needs a veil over her face in the first film, which if it was part of her cyborg augmentation it wouldn't be needed (I always got the impression it was part of a suit she wore, that interfaced with her augmentations for control etc).

You've got me wondering now, and i've already got a huge backlog of stuff to watch without adding GITS to it :)
