Now people dont go getting all PC on me and getting Offended, its something i just want to know.

Where do gay people get that Stereotypical voice from?
I know not all gays have it but you get a lot that do.
They arnt born with it, and more then likely dont have it when growing up so where do they get it from?
Is it something they just put on until it sticks or do they get it some other way.

I know plenty of other gay people that dont have it and just want to know where they get it from and how it develops.

This isnt ment to be a dig ar gays, just somthing ive wondered along with other people ive spoken to

Probably something that helps them conform to a stereotype and help them 'fit in'.

It is one thing that really irks me about bum bandits.

I think it is because some try to emulate female characteristics during their relationships, hence start to encorporate female like behaviour into their speech.

I've asked a couple i've met in my time and one outright denied he had a gay voice and didn't know what I was talking about  but the other one said it's like if a british person moves to the states for a while they subtley pick up the accent :p

Ergo, if they hand around with other pork swordfighters a lot, they pick up the lingo.

Dunno really, probably a self-perpetuating stereotype, but I know a fair few non-camp gay people find it quite annoying about overly camp people.

It's really just another form of people showing off I think, not really annoying just a bit different that's all.

You have two roles in a gay relationship, the butch and the bitch, the bitch would be the submissive one with the annoying voice.*

*I just made this up.

The first thing I was expecting after reading the OP was some PC annoyance saying "omg you can't say that, people talk how they want and who are you to say otherwise".

Much to my relief, it wasn't :D

I think it comes naturally to some of the more effeminate gay people.

Others I believe do it for the hell of it - basically cultivating an image.

I'm gay, but I'm not camp. I think deep down I am a little prejudiced myself as I tend not to befriend really camp people. Though I think it is more to do with I just like people down to earth and regular :)

Gay people are the devil.

That'll get some reaction, or will it? This is OCUK... :p

Well, its clearly put on if you ask me, but after so long it just becomes the way they talk.

For example, knew a lad back in school, never knew he was a marmite miner, appeared relativley normal.

Then as I left school, I kinda heard through some old friends and acquantances that he preffered the dirt track. Then about 1 or 2 years later I randomly meet him and he has got this camp/queen voice - including all the over exagerated hand gestures.

When in Rome I gues....
