hmmm recommended for medium settings I guess. That sounds far too optimistic for high settings unless at fairly low res.

has no-one else noticed that these are the same requirements as the ones for Crysis?

I'm taking those sys req with a pinch of salt, remember crysis before it was released? On some forums I remember people saying things along the lines of, dont worry with an 8600GT you will be able to play it on high and 8800GTS very high :).....

I was on this forum called Crysis Sector, the owner was hoping it was going to be great, up untill crysis was released it was, then it went down hill, now the website does not even exist.

Its going to be same for farcry, all the same stuff happening.

To be fair some magazine said that Far Cry 2 ran great at 1600x1200, Crysis certainly didn't even on the best cards out at the time!

But I guess people said the same about Crysis, can't really remember.

I'm hoping they've been watching the release and subsequent backlash from Crysis and have perhaps put a little more effort than usual to make it work :) I'l be optomistic and say the specs are going to be accurate.

Crysis ran fine on my X1950, hopefully this will do fine as well.

Did it? all high?

What res? 1024x768?

From what I've hear it ran fine on the X1900 series on medium settings with a mix of high. Nothing runs it fine unless it can do 1680x1050 all high, thats running it fine and my 4870 can only just do that.

Not on all high, mix of medium and high 1680x1050. Still looked sweet though.

I saw it being played at Play.com Live earlier in the year. They claimed the machine had a C2Q and an 8800GTX, and it ran like silk on the screen there, looked good too.

I'm really looking forward to this game.

My 4870 can't do that at all, average of 30 fps and some severe stuttering :/

I had a [email protected], X1900xt, 2gb of mem. Crysis ran fine at 1024x768, 2xaa, Everything on high accept for shadows on low, post processing on medium, shaders medium. I was avg 21fps, perfecly playable fps and it never dropped either... my X1900xt was a dam good card.

Yea with shaders on medium, FPS flys up when the shaders are on medium.

On the exact same settings as you, same res, 2xaa it looks pretty horrid dont know how you cope, allthough I was getting a constant 60fps apart from when you turn around it dips down for a second then back up.

Actually AA dont work it puts the shaders to high.

I'm really trying to figure out why i'm getting seemingly lower results than most other 4870 owners, i'm really sad about the fact that i'm getting worse FPS than before the upgrade. It might be the 4GB ram doing it for you, but i can't be too sure.
