Does anyone know if all Ballistix 8500 are prone to failure? I just RMA'd a pair a few weeks ago and now im getting BSOD's and lots of errors were flagged on MemTest. So far I've had to RMA all 4 sticks that I bought; I have a feeling the Asus P5N32E-SLI mobo was damaging them so I just bought a Gigabyte GA-EP35-DS3P motherboard.
Does anyone think crucial would consider changing the ram sticks for 6400 ram instead, as I would prefer stability to speed.

the ballistix doesnt like its stock voltage too much so is prone to dieing a lot, try to run it as low voltage as possible, i run my 4 x 1GB sticks at 2.05v which is stable

I find it incredible that people still buy Ballistix.

Get some G.Skill or OCZ or for that matter just buy some corsair value RAM and be done with it - you won't notice the performance difference.

Well gskill ocz geil kingston ram fail all the time and probably have as many if not more failures than crucial but strangely don't get a bad rep which I find puzzling.

Geil has almost as bad failure rates as crucial - I don't personally reccomend them but quite a lot of other people do - probably because they are cheap.

Partly why OCZ and G.Skills don't have as bad rep as crucial is because when/if it does die the replacements tend to work for years - unlike ballistix where the replacements are often as short lived as the original set.

Kingston have kinda re-entered the market after being somewhat more dormant than the others.

I've never had a set of OCZ die on me - some have turned up with one faulty module (which isn't completely uncommon) but after a quick RMA the working set usually last for years.

G.Skills had a rough patch a couple of years back but seem to be better of late - having swapped away from micron to powerchip for a lot of lines.

Have had 4Gb of Geil die on me now.... Not good!

So decided to be done with them and purchase some OCZ PC8500 Sli Edition when i seen the price on them, no idea if they will work with a 6300/DS3
