Finally got my hands on a new pc, well I say new, it's second hand but it's new to me. My old spec was pitiful, 2.4ghz p4, 128mb 9800pro radeon and 1gb ddr ram. The last game I played when it came out new was HL2 and it struggled with that so after that, I never bothered with anything. So basically we're going back 3 and a half years and I need some recommendations. I've been browsing gaming review sites and don't really know what's what.

I love fps, rpg, racing (burnout ott style racing), never really got into strategy, hate sports...i'm a pretty generic gamer. All time favorite game is Deus Ex, seconded by Far Cry and maybe third KOTOR/Fable. So folks, go ahead and hit me with ideas, just got paid and have a bit of spare cash.

The list so far...updated 14/08

Assassins Creed
Bioshock
Call Of Duty 4
Call Of Juarez
Crysis
Devil May Cry 4
Flatout
Gears Of War
Halo 2
Kane & Lynch: Dead Men
Lego Indiana Jones
Lost Planet
Mass Effect
Oblivion
Prey
RE4
RS Vegas 1 & 2
S.T.A.L.K.E.R.
Stranglehold
Test Drive Unlimited
The Godfather
The Witcher

A lot of people have told me COD4 is only good for mp, which is a shame because 1-3 had excellent single player campaigns.

I've never heard of Mass Effect but after reading the suggestion here read a review and it sounds freakin' awesome, that's 2 on my list :D

I'd suggest playing it yourself, I personally loved the Cod 4 single player, it was nothing particularly original but the set pieces and interactive scenes were superb. The ending was great too imo. It is very short though.

COD4 multiplayer is pap compared to BF2 and its mods.

Sweet...more food for thought, keep em coming guys, i've got the time and sometimes money to work my way through them all.

I gave Oblivion a go on the 360 and thought it was pretty good, just got frustrated with using a damn controller.

What sort of racing is Grid...real world or silly driving like burnout?

your "old" system should have had no problems running hl2 :/. 9800pro? That game was MADE for the 98pro

Question is whether my system will run Crysis?

Obviously it depends what res you are running and what level (Low, med, high etc.) you are willing to set it at but yeh you should be fine on a med/high combination of settings.

scout the web for a crysis graphics set up guide (there are a few) if you wanna get the best visuals vs fps.
