I went out today to look for some new glasses and wanted to go for the Specsavers option of 2 pairs and one pair sunglasses, but they had a rubbish selection of designer frames. I have found some Ted Baker glasses I like and tried them on in Vision Express but the prices were extortionate. I am going for an eye test next week (my mum phoned and asked Specsavers if I needed another but they said I need it every 2 years and it had been over 1 year but not 2, after going into the shop we were told I needed one every year). I am now going to get my prescription and try find them online for cheaper.

What online shops are good and easy to deal with then? I don't want any of this from China made by children £10 cheapskate jobs, I am looking for designer frames, and mainly want to know about sites that are trustworthy as I can guess there is probably a lot of sites that sell knock-offs and poor quality glasses. Thanks.

I used glassesdirect.co.uk and they were ok.

Use google and find the frames you need. I am going to buy a pair of bench ones soon from ispectacle

I think i depends on what your wanting
Online may be OK for standard run of the mill frames and plain lenses with no coating

But if you need a stronger lens, coatings, thin lens or a designer frame I would go to the high street

Thats after wearing glassess for 33 out of 35 years

I would pay a bit extra knowing its coming from someone reliable and good. Look at his awards and stuff!

I'm 16 so still get NHS vouchers, and while Vision Express is £130 for the same pair it could turn out cheaper as you can get a 10% discount with them as well as the NHS voucher (my current pair were from Specsavers and were £125 but turned out £50-£60 with the voucher, that is with scratch resistant lenses as well). I assume speckyfoureyes won't be able to accept my NHS voucher?

Specsavers have a poor designer selection compared to what they used to have. Also my head appears to be quite big so I need larger ones, I tried a pair of FCUK ones on in there today and they felt like a child's pair. I went to Vision Express and the Ted Baker ones I had seen online fit nicely and were good. I'm going to wait til after my next exam and then use the prescription at whichever is cheaper.
