Manchester United vs Portsmouth - Community Shield *SPOILERS*

Owen, Viduka, Butt, Cacapa, Duff, and probably a few others, have all won trophies. I don't see any of these players acting arrogantly or pouting when they get fouled.

And where did they all win these trophies?

My point being is that its hard to be arrogant when you go into most games trying not to lose before a ball has been kicked, when you play for the best team in the world you can be arrogant, i don't particularly like Nani, ive said it numerous times

Soon as the match is over does that mean it is time to derail the thread? I thought this thread was about Man utd vs Portsmouth not yourself and your football teams problems.

Its part of the game that is "we're **** so lets join in the thread by having a go at MU"

Most football fans would come in and discuss the game

I await Cheets and the other **** nuts in a while

I wasn't the one who brought other teams into the argument.

I wasn't the one who brought a diving issue with Nani and Ronaldo.

Congratulations to Man U on a great win as well.

Good game although you could see that both teams were way short of match fitness. Befitting MoM award to Tevez. Can't say I share the same disgust at Giggs & Scholes as the rest. I thought they were alright and nothing more.

Not sure about Pompey though. they do look as though they lack something down the right hand side of midfield. Wasn't Diop a Centre mid when he was at Fulham ?

Poor game all round. United desperately need a world class finisher and Portsmouth need some decent midfielders and some white penalty takers.

Post of the year surely? :D

I'm just glad we won. I can't stand Harry sodding Redknapp, the guy really gets on my nerves.

Goes to show how much we miss our R&R though. ;)

Dross, fair play to the Man United players actually wanting a competitive game of football, Portsmouth where a disgrace, tactics wise and team mentality.

I hope they get relegated this season.

Cheets seems to forget its like that every season for the Charity Shield

It is used as an extra game for players to find fitness, i think he was expecting the CL final

Hopefully Wigan will be relegated

how come you have a pic of Barry George in your sig :p

Genuine LOL from me there :D

Gotta say the most shocking thing from todays game was that we've now won 3 penalty shoot outs in 2 seasons :)

Frazier Campbell looked good when he came on, lots of effort and got into some good positions.

Fletcher is looking good, but I think this is his peak right now... he's not going to get any better.

Tevez was phenomenal, really eager, looking to get on the ball at every opportunity, inteligent and powerful desplay as well. He's looked great in the friendlies I've seen him play in, and continued that form into this game - he should have an absolute stormer of a season hopefully!

Vidders and Rio at the back, strong as ever although they did have much to do. When Vidic was called upon he made some key challenges and both did their jobs well when were needed.

Van Der Superstar, could have sat on his arse for 80 minutes of todays game as he had very little to do bar the odd skyward ball and cross with Crouch 100+ yards away from the ball.

Nani... like I said earlier in the thread - he's really hot and cold. Unfortunately most players have hot and cold streaks that last for matches. His last for 10 to 20 minutes in a game. He's got moments of real skill at times, but he lacks composure at others. His attitude in general still needs work. One to watch in one or two years maybe.

Other than that, Giggs and Scholes... Well Scholes was okay, average performance. Giggs was poor - and it's just becoming depressing now, he's been an absolute legend for us over the years and I had hoped last season would be his last. Giggs is just there for his mental attributes now, ability to calm players down when they're barating the referee or pulling players away from each other. He's lost his pace, he's lost his ability to pass at times too.

Overall I'm quite pleased, the players you'd expect to put on a performance did... the ones you had doubts about before the game were poor. Nothing overly shocking, apart from some of the Pompy penalties... and Fletchers sitter  :p

Oh and for those that care, Anderson scored for Brazil today in their game.

Bit of a lucky goal, shot against the keeper... it came back hit him in the head... bounced a yard in front of him and then he headed it in.

He looked good, and lively in general... just hope he comes back in one piece from the Olympics now... we need all the fit talent we can get at the moment :)
