From BBC site:

Scientists in the US say they are a step closer to developing materials that could render people invisible.

Researchers at the University of California in Berkeley have developed a material that can bend light around 3D objects making them "disappear".

The materials do not occur naturally but have been created on a nano scale, measured in billionths of a metre.

The team says the principles could one day be scaled up to make invisibility cloaks large enough to hide people.

How cool is that, imagine being able to turn yourself invisible!
Mind you, sometimes when I'm stood at a bar waiting to be served I think I'm already wearing an invisibility cloak.

The scientists have made about 3 dozen cloaks so far, but forgot to stitch on to one side a non invisable layer, now they cant find them lol!

But will be fun to have one in the future... imagine the videos on Youtube then!

These will more than likely never make it to mass production and sale to the public.

Far too much room for abusive use. It would be a total nightmare!

Pity though, as it would be so much fun to be able to disappear. Possibilities truly are endless....

This all sounds good, however, I don't think it will give you true invisibilty with no light disruption.

Remember the Predator in the trees? I think it will be very much like that if anything can ever be worn.

and surely it wouldnt be much use for perving, as you wouldnt be able to see out of it i'd have thought

If Harry Potter has taught us nothing else, he taught us that you can see out.

That and he's a gay for not using his to perv on Miss Granger.

Whats everyone on about?!?

First thing I thought of for its uses, would be the best game of hide and seek in the world ever...

Well that and perving :p

Surely if they are invisible they would be a tad hard to spot in nature :p
