One thing I'e always wondered:
How do the synchronized divers both know when to start diving when they're not looking at eachother?
Not noticed anything wrong with the point scoring of the diving.
The boxing however...
I'm glad I'm not the only person who thinks the boxing scoring has been fairly suspect.
Dont tell me. The Chinese won?I'm glad I'm not the only person who thinks the boxing scoring has been fairly suspect.

RDM said:To be honest, if you didn't know the rules, why comment on them? It would be like me commenting on something being offside in football when frankly I don't have a clue about it.
You sound ideally qualified to compose the next interation of the offside rule tbh.
Am I right in saying the boxing is judged by having more than one judge pressing a button at once to give a boxer a point for doing something?
The problem with all of these events are the scoring systems are geared towards the people involved with them every day.
They don't take into account the people watching at home have no idea how everything works, and therefore get frustrated by seeing someone look better (cleaner performance) get lower marks than someone looking worse (falling/out of sync), just because they opted for a more difficult dive.
Maybe they should say everyone has to do exactly the same things, and then just judge by how well each of those things are done.
Yes it doesn't promote individual talents for making things up, but it makes it easier for people at home to understand.

Being a model is not about being attractive. Mostly, and especially for fashion models, it is about having a symmetrical face and body.Very true, I think this applies to models on the catwalk and on tv shows like "Blah blah's next top model" the judges and audiences at the shows have different criteria to people watching on tv, I mean some of them are mingers to the point you could easily see a dozen birds up town on an average night out that are better looking and better dressed but yet the judges are in raptures over them.............funny old world.............Watched end of recent UK's next top model and the lass who won was minging compared to one that came 2nd

I'm watching the diving highlights now and the Chinese are in a different league compared to the British pair.I've just watched the diving.
What a joke!!!
The british just did a difficult dive, absolutely perfectly. 9.
The chinese do a dive. Just a dive. No spin, rotation, just head first. It could have only be simpler if they went in feet first. The did it out of time, they hit the water at different times, they came out of the tuck differently. 10.
What a load of carp.
