While queueing for the checkout in Waitrose today, the lady in front of me was asked (as they do these days) if she would like plastic bags. The lady produced a bag from her pocket and a coversation ensued about how we all have to do our bit for the environment and how she was doing all she could.

"Holier than though cow" I thought to myself but thought nothing more of it as I packed my plastic bags with my shopping.

Upon returning to my car I noticed that the "environmentally friendly" woman had parked next to me........in her Porsche Cayenne Turbo.

I mean, I drive a gas guzzing Lexus and use plastic bags which I throw away but hey, at least I'm consistant.

or maybe shes making up for the fact that she drives a a gas guzzler by making the rest of her life as green as possible?

Well reusing cotton bags rather than plastic has much less significant effect on her lifestyle than her choice of car so I can't see anything wrong with this example.

I do loads of recycling cardboard, glass and plastic just because we get through so many nappies. The bin will fill up way before bin day otherwise but I'm doing what I can to reduce my extra landilling :p

Whatever car she drives, surely it's a good thing that she's re-using a plastic bag?

Agree it's hypocritical to say you care about the environment and then drive a car like that, but at least she's doing *something*.

It might run on a zero emission nuclear reactor or have a batallion of hamsters on wheels under the bonnet or even a retractable wind farm.

Did you consider these before slating the poor woman ? Hmmm ?

;)
