Teaser: R32 Project.

I've heard a lot of people bad mouth Wossner pistons as being "soft"

But (in my mind this seems logical, I know literally nothing about high power engines) I'd rather damage a piston than damage the block.

Surely a damaged piston would damage the block. :)

which bulbs solari? you mean the sidelights? on the r32 ive changed many peoples sidelights for them without doing anything more than lifting the bonnet and taking the backs of the xenons off, not sure what it would be like on the normal non-xenon lights though?

Front dips/mains etc :)

I like the look of this project a lot, should be a bit of a beast once done, where did you get those pistons? we have a R32'd T3/T4 Turbo'd corrado but have just used a spacer gasket for the moment so would like to do it properly once funds allow.

i bought them off german ebay, i forget the sellers name but they sell a lot of different things, they have a set of JE pistons there that they are happy to swap to if i want to, which i thought was good of them.

Looks like a great project wayne, looking forward to seeing the outcome, after looking at some of the video you posted of tuned R32's the performance looks impressive to say the least.

Any issues with going from a dual mass flywheel to a single mass, i read you had one custom made but will this effect drivability of the car in stop start situations (more engine mount wear etc?)

Who makes the OEM pistons in your engine btw? After some research mine are Mahle and good for high boost / high power applications its the rods that go bang first.

im not sure about the OEM pistons, its something ive never really looked into but i wouldnt be surprised if they are mahle.

The flywheel is something that ill be testing a lot in the near future, a lot of people complain about chatter with lightened fly's, the thing that i wanna get over is the possibility of stalling - but im sure we will see soon :)

The engine mounts will be replaced with VF engineering mounts when im putting the engine back in, so wear hopefully wont be too much of an issue

Many Thanks for that, I'll have a search on there.

I am really curious to see how yours turns out as I am keeping an eye on R32 prices as it will be cheaper to get one than Haldex the corrado and at the moment it is pretty poor when it comes to traction. :(

i can imagine it certainly eats up front tires for fun lol

tyres!

What kind of transmission losses does the R32 suffer from? 650whp has got to be well over 750BHP at the fly?

That's very, very true and it's no saint on fuel either but it is a bit nippy :D

Luckily it's Richie's full time project/daily driver and I will get a lot of my cash out of it soon so I can finish my mk1 and my 16vt mk2.

Moved on a bit since I took that but more in that we have lot's of parts laying about just no money to get the final bits to start bolting things up.

:o that's going to be pretty mental! What's the time time scale for this? I want to see it goooooo :D

"when its done"

lol. but seriously, i have no will to rush this or get it done quickly for anything inparticular, its going to be done properly, if things go smoothly it shouldnt really take that long :)

thats sirhenri's car from the r32oc. He has 3 r32's, 1 twin turbo mk1, one single turbo mk4 thats his wifes and a twin turbo mk5 :D
