Guys just posting this for a mate.

He is on the verge of buying an HTPC, it is second hand and can be seen Here .

The seller is saying that he will put vista oem back on the machine (So we assume it was this machine that it is licensed to) but he is not to keen on supplying the oem disc with it. which as i see it he has to give the disc aswell.

In his defence he was originally selling it without an os on the machine, my mate asked about an OS and this is what he has offered to do.

If my mate buys this without the oem disc can he then buy his own OEM and install it to the machine.

Thanks for your time.

All your friends needs to do is borrow a Vista OEM disk and install using the product key on the case.
There is no reason why the seller should not supply the disk as well.

Why would he need the disc if he's transferring the license to you? Any license he buys for another machine will come with another disc.

I think he's just trying to let you know that he'll install the OS in a *wink wink nudge nudge* fashion, e.g. you won't be licensed. And to be honest a Vista Ultimate OEM license is half of the total selling price of the PC so there's no way it's coming with a license to use it.

Also: Who the hell offers to pay money once something's been delivered?

My point exactly, so he should supply the disc and the license.

Its the way it works over there a lot of the time, not that i would do that TBH, but if the seller agrees then tis up to him, atleast on this occasion he would receive the money.

He should supply it with a blank hard drive. You aren't going to get him to give up £100+ of software licenses along with a PC for £220.

Thanks for the replies guys, the guy has now withdrawn the HTPC, perhaps he should have thought it through before offering to install vista, or atleast made his intentions as to the 30 days trial clear, either way he was wrong.

My mate would still have bought it even without the OS, shame really not a bad bit of kit.

To conform to the EULA he would have had to sell the media as well as the machine. And there is no such thing as a Vista trial outside of a VM ;)
