My Honda 1.4 Sport is 89bhp. 9bhp extra!!! But no Vtec indeed. Edit: I read that they all have 89 bhp.

Reliable so far though.

That fuel economy above is motorway. Urban gives 34ish.

Edit - what model are we talking about here: 95-02 or 02-06?

Those model years aren't quite right, they ran 95-01, 01-02, 02-06 :p

The wifey has got one of the crappy '01 1.4SE models... If its anything after 2001, don't bother with the 1.4 engine. It's ghastly in such a heavy car.

ive got an 01 Civic 1.4 Does me for what i want and that's getting to work and picking the kids up.
Had my speed kicks from various motorbikes, so thats out of my system now.
Managed 390 miles from a tank full so it does me on economy plus being a honda have now worries regards reliability. This is my 4th civic. If/when i change it fancy a Honda Stream.
As pointed cheap to insure, my previous civic was a 1.4GL, group 11. This is group 4.

Badge snobbery aside from the usual culprits, the 1.4i isn't actually a bad engine at all. It's reliable and relatively revvy - you could do a lot worse.

Personally i'd rather take the insurance hit on the chin and have a reliable car, opposed to an unreliable POS french car (which is incidentally what I had for my first car and paid the price).

Economy wise, the 1.5 VTEC-E is probably the better option.

I'm sure Lopez will have some further comments as he had an MB shape 1.4i, which can be picked up for peanuts (and incidentally he did).

nvm on civic .

rang a guy meeting up with Ford Focus 1.6 Zetec seller 47,600 miles 2001. got him down from 5500 to 5000 euro but still need to see a car.

Seems over priced for what it is.

yea here in ireland cars really expensive in uk or northern ireland cars are like 25% 30% cheaper but then if you import it. u have to pay import tax calculated in by your cars Co2 emissions. something like that

Aye and thats not including insurance. My girlfriend's brother is a year older than me with the same no claims, and was paying about £3k for an EG Civic 1.3, whilst I was paying £450 FC for a modded VTI :o

I had a T reg Sport, its 89 bhp, I managed 40 mpg too with general country driving, not a bad motor at all.
