Final Fantasy 13 coming to XBOX 360

It's not very good business sense if they didn't get any money off Microsoft for releasing it on the 360 though because they surely would have paid a lot of money for it.

Nonsense. Releasing it on the 360 is going to make them a lot of money even if MS don't pay them for it. MS know this, so why would they pay them? SE aren't going to hold MS to ransom at the cost of their own profits.

True but as it's going to be a simultaneous release on both platforms which is likely to hold the PS3 version back I'd say that MS opened their cheque book in some way even if it was just to make sure it was released at the same time.

Still doesn't answer why Versus is staying exclusive, and tbh that in my mind is the big question because it just doesn't make any sense....

Versus probably won't stay exclusive for very long.

I'd disagree, as I think if Square were going to announce it going multi-platform they would have either done it at E3 or their own conference in August which confirmed it's still exclusive.

There's no reason to confirm it's exclusivity if they plan to make it multi-platform in the future. With the decision of Final Fantasy 13 I'm sure Square would have discussed Versus and made a decision then.

I'm sure Sony would have discussed Square's decision straight after E3, and asked Square to confirm the status of Versus.

Nope not at all, infact I'd say it's good business sense either way. What I'm refering too is why Versus is still exclusive?

If MS threw money at Square for FF surely they'd tie up Versus at the same time? Or if it's true that Square just want more revenue by developing it on both formats then why not Versus also?

To me it doesn't make sense as both are currently in development, Square need to the MS dev kits for FF so why exclude Versus?

I can only assume it's because of 3 possible reasons:

1) Square wanted lots of money from MS for Versus and MS said no (highly unlikely)
2) Versus is only going to be sold in Japan (highly stupid of Square)
3) Versus will arrive before FF due to less development time (most likely?)

Not so sure about 1, SE have said MS gave them no money as did microsoft, but as for 2, at the Square event last weekend FFVS13 was shown as Exclusive worldwide PS3 only ( much like FF13 was lol). As for it coming out first i dont think it will ff13 is out summer 09 in japan (demo in march PS3 only) and winter 09 for US. I expect vs13 to may get out winter 09 for Japan and spring 10 forthe rest of us.

I know what Square said but with Versus being exclusive, it contradicts their statement & tbh would Square blab about money changing hands - doubt it!!
Add the fact that Square are releasing FF13 on both platforms at the same time and the PS3 version might be delayed due to development time. It just doesn't add up as to why they would do that, surely they'd want to get the game out the door regardless of what console it was for?

And I'm sorry but the release dates look hopefull tbh, especially FF13 arriving in the US in 09.

The PS3 version isn't being delayed as such. It has to be localised. So as it is being localised they can build the 360 version. Copy over the localisation from the PS3 version and they are both done with no time wasted.

But I don't know what happens when localising a game or how long it takes.

What does localization actually involve? Is it just languages?
Yeah it's translating the dialogue, menus, etc, often including a 'cultural translation' too. Then recording the English voice actors. Plus a few other things like changing the controls (In Japan, O is used as the ok button, here it is X).

In the past I think localisation would have also included converting to PAL (higher screen resolution, slower refresh rate), but I don't think that's an issue with modern consoles.

That was the original plan but recently square have been saying that due to not recieving the dev kits for the 360 yet there may be a delay on the PS3 version as they code it for the 360?

Personally not bothered but seems odd if this is the case, as I would have thought Square would just release whichever and whenever each version is ready, like say Alone in the Dark.

If you've got FF7 just pop it in and start a new game and you will find that O is confirm and X is cancel, the first thing I do as soon as I get control is switch them both around in the config menu.

You're missing out on some seriously epic games then :) Not many games can reduce gamers to tears...poor Aeris :(

Yeah never had anything to play them on really, watched my housemate play through bits of ten and it looked really dull to me. Can't stand the battle system.

7 and 9 are the best imo. 7 is a game everyone should play through at least once :D And you can probably get a PSOne emulater quite easily these days.

Demo is coming march 2009. The demo will be around 2 hours long.

According to the upcoming DKS3713 issue of Famitsu magazine, the PlayStation 3 exclusive Final Fantasy XIII demo will clock in at a longer running time than the CGI film, Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children Complete.

Currently the original Advent Children film clocks in at a runtime of 101mins; however, the Blu-ray version of the movie will feature scenes that were either cut completely or not finished in time for the initial release, resulting in a significantly longer runtime.

Here is a list of other tidbits revealed from the three-page spread in Famitsu:

-The Final Fantasy XIII demo will be based from the opening section of the game.
-The demo will come on a separate disc rather than on the Advent Children Blu-ray.
- Mr. 33CM's real name is based off of weather as well.
- One of the female characters, refered to as 'Pigtails Girl', has been through some tough times.

Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children Complete is scheduled for release in March 2009.
