4870 if you don't mind crappy drivers for now, really fantastic card for the money, nothing really compares for now, the 280 might be around 200 after the dieshrink but i really wouldn't bet on that.

saying that, you could keep some money in your pocket and get one of the £105 4850's, still quick cards, faster than 3x 3850's in xfire!

Talrinys bear in mind that people may not experience any problems depending on their setup so blanket statements like they're crap aren't necessarily true for all. For me drivers have been flawless.

To the OP 260gtx or 4870 the choice is yours.

The 9800GX2 if you have a large monitor, is quite a powerful card if not then I go for the 4870 you can't go wrong with that.

Yeah i'm sorry, had just had 3 crashes in a row there so was kinda bitter :P
It is a fair warning in general about new cards for both companies though, i would reccommend the 4870 to anyone, fantastic work from AMD this time around.

guys plz bear in mid this card is running on a 19" samsung tft. cheers

Hi there

If you plan on keeping your 19" LCD then a 4850 would be fine to be honest. :)

If you want the most power for your £200 then go with a 9800 GX2.

However if you keep that monitor might as well get the 4850 and with the saved money go out and have some fun. :D

What's his spec? (No opportunity for someone to say sumit smart-arse like: 50 Years old, Hench, 0-10MPH in 2 seconds).

A benching card, not a gaming card.

4870 is better for gaming and in price. Win,win.

HI there

Agreed but OcUK is selling GTX 260 cheaper than 4870, its just our competitors who can't compete with our pricing on GTX 260 and 280 plus now we have free shipping for forum members too, making is a lot cheaper.

unless your dad is an avid pc enthusiast, give/sell him your GTX and buy urself the new one ;)

P.s. Gibbo why does "u r" (no space) get starred out?
