But I don't seem to have any 8pin power connectors on my PSU and it didn't come with any adapters..only an adapter of 2x4 pin to 6pin.

Now searching around local pc stores for an adapter =/ If I find one I assume they're safe to use?

DOH!!

PW

**EDIT Now got the card running but it doesn't work properly..bad artifacting at default clocks..bugger**

If its anything like the old HD2900XTs you dont NEED an 8 pin, you can use 6pins, you just wont get the ATI overdrive functionality. Someone may come along and correct me with these new cards though.

Aye, if it is the same as the last X2, you don't need an 8pin, just a normal 6pin will do, you just won't get overdrive.

Think I read somewhere that the 2x 6 pin method didn't work with these cards.
Anyone know where I can get my hands on an 8 pin power connector for my coolermaster power supply?

Just tried using 2 lots of the 6 pins..it came up with a message in red that "One of your power supply connecters is not connected" and just kept beeping..so it doesn't seem to work with this card =/

Store at the bottom of the road has no adapters in stock....now checking other stores in the area!

a real shame it didn't come with any adapters, I would have expected it to, or at least told you what you needed in the item description.

lol £370 and they don't include an uber cheap adapter? Poor show! :(

I hope your search is succesful today, would suck to have the card and not be able to use it!

oh dear

which board partner is it?
i would be surprised if its sapphire - they are normally good at including the bits and bobs

well well well, I have warned about this before, you should always check if the card comes with the relevant power adaptors that you need for it to work with your PSU, I feel sorry for you but at the same time you only really have yourself to blame.

lol hes only got himseld to blame????? whats he done gone and killed his whole pc or something? some people are so full of ****.

where abouts are you located OP? I'm sure someone on here will be willing to help you rather than judge you for not checking if you have a 6-8 pin adaptor.....
:)

forgot about building my brothers computer..so checked his psu's box of modular cables...4pin..4pin...6pin..****..oh wait..this is a 6pin with 2 extra ones cabled to it aswell!

plugged it in and well it's booted fine as I'm typing using it now =) Just installed 8.7 catalyst drivers..rebooting now...any benchmarks people want let me know

some people are so full of ****.

eh ?

A slight over reaction maybe ?, I said I felt sorry for him but at the end of the day he should have checked what adaptors came with the card, I hardly think that warrants your adverse reaction to my post, stating that I'm "full of ****.", I told people on here before to check that the required adaptors come with the card that you are purchasing, it's only friendly advice, but people criticised me saying that all cards these days come with the relevant adaptors and not to worry, well this obviously isn't the case.

I'll be glad when the summer holidays are over and these forums go back to normal.
