Hi lads, im seriously stumped at what 24" monitor to buy, will have a 4870 in my comp soon so looking for a nice 24" monitor to play games at 1920x1200.

I have these 4 selected:

BenQ FP241VW 24" Widescreen Ultimate Gaming

BenQ FP241W 24" Widescreen

Hazro HZ24W 24" Widescreen

Dell Ultrasharp 2408WFP 24" Widescreen

What is the input lag like on these? what would you recommend?

Cheers Dom

mrk had the Benq and sold it for the Hazro, which he prefers.

To play games, strike the Dell as the input lag is 60ms+

The Benq's are a shade faster input lag wise than the Hazro at 27 ms.

E248WFP is a good monitor along with the Samsung 245BW both TN/Film they have some limitations viewing angles etc, but do not suffer input lag issues like the S-IPS/PVA panels. There's a lot of happy customer using both TN Models which are considerably cheaper. Check the posting re E248 and the Sammy

The S-IPS Hazro HZ24i is the best at present for all round gaming top end 24" but wait for the i model

i personally go for the dell model ive had 4 new monitors from dell (2 20" for me, 1 20" for a friend and a 24" for another friend) and they all are excellent no dead pixels and gives such a good picture

Problem is, your past monitors may be great, but the Dell he's specifically asked about in this thread (the 2408) is not good for gaming as it has a noticable (even in normal desktop usage) input lag; it's therefore not going to be any good for his intended usage (gaming).

I went for the Samsung 245B, it's a TN so poor vertical viewing angle, and 8 bit with dithering but supposed to be better for gaming, less ghosting.

It's not 8 bit with dithering, it's 6 bit with dithering making up 16.2 million colours (allegedly), so about .5 million short of 8 bit.

cheers philjohn, what 24" would you recommend?

Well, if you look at TFTCentral the input lag on the Benq 241WZ has around 27ms which is fine for most gamers. If you aren't a photog and don't mind the black crush and gamma shift (not normally noticable if you don't know what to look for) that would be the best choice.

Anyone got any opinions on the Samsung SM-2493HM vs T240?

Whats the difference between the BenQ FP241W, 241WZ and 241VW?
edit: just noticed how old the FP241W is, sept 06. Has it been updated since then?
