A. Single
B. Owns shares Con-Ed or PGE
C. Gets a mega discount on his leccy
D. Has a mini reactor in the back yard
E. Discover a new way to heat his hot water
F. all of the above.
Definitely a 1 man team:eek:
 
By my calculation hes drawing (very roughly) about 5000 watts (50GPUs x 100 watts for arguments sake) so over 1 hour he consumes 5kwh which is 50p/hour based on 1kwh = 10p.

50p/hour, £12/day, £84/week, £365/month, £4380/year in electricity costs. That's without initial outlay and cooling the room. The police will probably pay a visit too (assuming this is at home) and ask what the Hell is going on. :D

That said if I won the lottery, I'd do it.

I think the maths is right, although it's a moot point anyway as energy is cheaper over there as far as I know. Just interesting to work out what he's coughing up. The sad thing about it is in a few years time the return of his investment (in terms of points) is going to drop like a stone.

I keep waiting for that: even in the middle of January I have the second bedroom window wide open as the temperature in there is probably about 25oC. I have almost no heating upstairs - just waft around the heat from four (now three) computers: 1 x Q6600 @ 3.6, 2 x E2180 @ 3.1 and (now turned off) 1 x XP4600+ at 2.7. In summer it has hit 38oC in there. Bad news for you guys though: SETI not F@H...

I'm paying 13p/kWH and we don't even have any competition over here.

lol thats what came to mind when I looked at it. Maybe in america they dont do it tho. Might still be hard to explain the police if they did coma'knockin about why he's got so much computer equipment set up tho:o
