Thinking of getting a couple of sets of these as Just put my ocz in another pc. Does anyone here own a set of these and can give me the heads up on what they are like plz :D never owned a set of Kingston ram what are they like?.

I know they used to be good but it seems less places are stocking them now. I would try and stick to OCZ as i have had most of my ram from them and never had problems with it!(Apart from when my motherboard decided to blow it up -.-)

I have my Kingston HyperX PC2 8500 for 4 months, running at 400 mhz(12-4-4-4) ,1:1 with cpu fsb, at 1.9Vdimm
they are excellent, they stay cold at that speed and voltage

you can buy it without fear - lifetime warranty, even their Value ram had 10 years warranty ( I have built a lot of PC´s with kingston value ram, never had a fail with it):)

nice review on the 4 GB kit here

Thanks for your replys. I decided to grab a couple of sets anyways as I had to order a 4870x2 for a friend today and just added them to his order for free shipping :-)) well will see what they are like soon I guess.

good buy-I think you'll be very happy with the mems

only do not give it the full 2.3/24 vdimm as recommended (unless you are going to use it at 1150mhz or higher)
if you are using it between 800/1000 MHz, they are stable with only 1.9 / 2.0 Vdimm, and run much cooler:)

Got the ram today. I am not that impressed with it so far wont even run stable @ 1094mhz with 2.35v :( will try testing it a bit more see what it will actually run at stable:confused:
cpuz is also reporting the memory as pc6400 ddr800?

On a brighter note I had a play with that 4870x2 made me want one for sure.

Kingston 1150Mhz and 1200Mhz kits rarely run at there rated speeds and timings, You'll need to go for the better brands, Cellshock, Patriot, Team Xtreem, Mushkin ect ect If yu want DDR2 that runs that fast.

Are you using the correct timings?

Kingston hyperx always used to be great back in the day - but they've been fairly dormant for awhile.

If your using 4+gigs especially if your using more than 2 sticks you might need to increase the northbridge voltage +0.1 (and provide extra cooling on the northbridge if it doesn't have a fan) to get it stable.

I'd suggest setting 5-5-5-18 (yes I know they are rated for 15) at 1.9v 400MHz and see if they are stable and then go from there.

Really? why on earth would it be advertised at speeds its not actualy capable of reaching? surely that would be false advertising. Bit peed off with these now gonna have to go through stick by stick and see what each one is capable of running tomorrow when I have a bit more time, well if they can't reach the speeds they were advertised at then they will be going back coz they are no good to me:mad:

I would just return them under DSR to be honest, I tryed over 30 sets of the 1200MHz Kingston ram and none of it could pass memtest @ 1200Mhz. That was using a IP35, Rampage and a EVGA 780I, To be fare to Kingston the OCZ 1150MHz kit rarely runs at its rated speeds aswell.

I'd just got for 400 FSB 10 multi and run 4 - 8 GB of ram at 800Mhz at 4 4 4 12, I was using the same chip and board as i found it to be much less hassle.

The 8500 Ocz ram I just stuck in another pc was not bad stuff and for £32 was a bargain. This kingston is even a step down from my backup ram G-Skill 6400 which will happily run 850mhz with nice tight timings 4-4-4-5:) might just stick with them tbh and return this Kingston.

well at least my kit of Kingston DDR2 1066 is doing what it promises:)
(note: it´s only a 2GB kit)
1066 mhz at 15-5-5-5 @ 2.15Vdimm ,in my "old" P965 chipset
and the PC is running fast, with an overclock of 60% in the cpu:)
