I am thinking of opening an Online Gift shop, I will also be selling books too, so I what I want to know is delivering these items, which company shall I use and what is the best service to use, in terms of mailing items that will be cheap so that my customers will not pay an arm and a leg for delivery charge.

Bare in mind 90% of my Customers will be UK based and the other is outside of the UK.

Thanks in advance.

We have used, Business Post, DHL, ANC, Citylink and Interlink

In that order over the last 7 years.

Best : Citylink

Worst: ANC

Not been with interlink long enough to advise but so far they are on par with City.

Royal mail for small items - easier than courier, cheaper, doesn't always need the customer to be home

I would use Royal Mail up until about 2kg or so and couriers for heavier items.

If you do not have a lot of initial volume use an agent like Interparcel.

You basically just need to compare Royal Mail against Interparcel and see what works best for you.

There is also www.parcel2go.com and a few others but I have always found Interparcel to be the best. If you register there you get a 5% discount too.
