The Case Against ETs visiting Earth

And how are we going to deal with the temp's and lack of atmosphere?

As I said, we would deal with that in the next 100-200 years. Possibly sending unmanned robotic expeditions up there. I don't know the solution, but by studying the environments on mars now, we can find plants/bacteria/chemicals/other to kick start the environment. Few prefabs shelters and we might have a stop off base there. BUT, there has to be a benefit to show for all this work. The cost of such an expedition will get cheaper as time goes on and robotics are going to be more than capable of carrying it out.

If we found a new type of material on mars, or a source of fuel... that would kick off the real space race. Until we find a benefit from travelling into space, it will be bottom of every government's priority.

Lol if theres oil on mars America will be there within a blink of an eye.

He was quoting me but how much does it cost to launch your average shuttle into space and back?

Nasa's latest shuttle cost $1.7 billion just to design and build.
No idea how much it costs to send one up.

edit: Just read that it costs $20,000 per pound in fuel to send something into space, and this year nasa have a budget of $17 billion.

Would you care to expand on your UTTERLY moronic post?

   There have some back.

We could be a total freak accident, so many factors in which maybe if any were slightly different we wouldnt be hear today.

Im sure there is life out somewhere but to try and say they can travel thousands of light years to us is too much.:rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes:

Not sure why you think other races can't travel light years.

Maybe your narrow mind?

Yes, thats it.

Well its happened once so it could happen again but chances are next to nothing.

Well, if the chances are BILLIONS to one, then there would still be BILLIONS of intelligent races.

There are more stars in the Universe than grains of sand on ALL of Earths beaches.

That puts it in perspective.

Now i'm not in the tinfoil brigade, nor do I believe we are being controlled by Lizards or that, but I think dmpoole and LordMike are slightly incorrect. Just because certain things happened in a certain order for life to start on Earth, whats to say that things cant happen in different order to create totally different types of "people" on another planet?

(im obviously talking in other galaxies etc.)
