Hey, I just signed up for Be broadband and my line is active a day early but currently it's going very slowly, i don't know if it is because it's only been on for a few hours but I would hope for over 2meg at least too be honest :/.

I know my attenuation is very high btw.

any thoughts at all?

*edit I've plugged it into the test socket and not noticed a discernable difference btw.

That is pretty poor. I'd consider asking Be/o2 to drop your target SNR to 3.5 and you may get 2 meg out of it. It could cause instability on your line however.

edit: You could also try asking them to limit you to ADSL1 mode as it can sometimes actually perform better than ADSL2+ on longer lines.

Waiting 24 hours will do nothing to improve your line - There's no data profile to update and what you see is what you get with non-IPStream products for the most part.

As I'm sure you're already aware (from what you've said), you're not going to get amazing speeds with that sort of line attenuation/length but with a target SNR of 3.5 you should be able to hit 2 mbit or so :)

well i called up and he switched me to annex a from annex m so i'm getting.

which is a bit better, don't think i explained myself correctly about pushing down my snr even further though.

You're not on Annex M, but you are in ADSL1 mode (G992.1) :)

See how stable that is for a bit and then request the SNR change if you want to chance it. Given how many FEC errors you're having though, I doubt you can push your line any further.

Is the router plugged directly into the master phone socket?

Internal wiring has quite an impact on internet speeds.

Very true, using the master socket gave me an extra 1meg down.

I use be internet and unfortunately i live a fair distance from the exchange so i get poor speeds like you.

About 6000 down & 500 up.

Nowt u can do about it really.
